Ex-Fins Trace Armstrong and Troy Vincent are two of the four finalists for the executive director of the NFL Players Association, left vacant by the passing of Gene Upshaw. The other two finalists are attorneys.

Upshaw's widow recently said she doesn't believe Vincent would be a good choice going back to a riff Vincent and Upshaw had, she found a file of Gen's alleging that Troy attempted a coup for the position before Upshaw passed away in August.

I think either one would do a good job.

I hope neither gets it. I liked them as players, but I don't feel they are educationally qualified. I hope the lawyer guy gets it because someone has to have to balls to go toe to toe with Roger "too many suspensions" Goodell. He's the guy who represented the starcaps players. I felt Goodell did a good job with some of the suspensions, but he got suspension happy and I just disagree with his handling of many suspensions so bring on the lawyer.

How the hell could he justify suspending players for a supplement THE LEAGUE put on the approved substances list? That's like saying the speed limit is 75 mph and you ticket people who went 65 mph because you felt it was wrong. It's not like those guys were habitual violators. They were standup players.

I think the lawyer would be a disaster because he's going to make the conduct policy his big stand. If he's willing to give the owners what they want from a salary perspective I could see it, but I don't know that he will.

That Troy tried a coup against Upshaw speaks well of him, given that Upshaw was a complete douche as the NFLPA president.
