The NFL Game Pass film shows Parker is more than a simple deep threat. His ability on in-breaking routes matches up with Tannehill's strength as a passer.

Despite a lanky frame, Parker does some of his best work fighting for the ball in tight quarters.
It's remarkable that Parker made such an impact when he was clearly still so raw. (More on that below.) But the final three games of the season showed Parker finding holes in zone coverage and executing timing routes. He doesn't look like the most deceptive or strongest runner, but he broke seven tackles in limited chances. In short: He's not just an athlete.

You could argue that Parker was unlucky last year despite his strong finishing kick. We charted his 59 targets, and 12 of them were absolutely uncatchable. Parker generally did a great job pulling down contested catches, a trait that should only help more in the red zone.

So excited to see what he does in a full season.

The low point of Parker's late-season jaunt through defensive backfields came during a grim Week 14 prime-time game against the Giants. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Prince Amukamara took residence in Parker's kitchen all night, and the rookie rarely had a counter move to get free. Parker recorded low scores on Matt Harmon's "Reception Perception" in part because of his struggles to get off press coverage. That's a problem if he keeps lining up as Miami's "X" receiver.

Parker's route running sometimes looked sloppy or lazy, especially when he wasn't the primary receiver on the play. More than once, he failed to help out Tannehill in scramble situations.

This was the key phrase, imo. He has got to get a lot better at both of these if he's going to be a top flight receiver. They can manage his inability to get off press in the short term by having him line up off the line of scrimmage, but you can't do that with everyone and Jarvis Landry also struggles getting off press.

One of the things that's exciting about Leonte Carroo is that he excelled getting off press in college. He could be in line for a lot more work than you might otherwise expect.

I agree. Leonte (like Landry) plays angry...he is an extremely physical WR.

Parker's tools should expand this year. Hopefully the WR coach is working with him.

DVP has the strength and the length to get off the press easily. All about technique. I don't think he 100% trusted that foot to plant and cut hard which is why he ran sloppy routes.

He has the physical tools, but he's been bad at it thus far and would hardly be the only long receiver in NFL history to struggle getting off press. Those guys actually tend to struggle because they give corners a big target to hit.

This is the reason I was peeved at letting Matthews go, and happy(not about the 4 picks he cost though) we drafted Caroo, Parker and Stills are bad vs press, so you need that SE type to line up on the LOS to take the press.

Parker and Stills are not aggressive nor strong enough to combat press well.

Let's see how they do going from those New England neophytes to actual NFL quality coaches. Phil McGeoghan to Shawn Jefferson.

parker beat up press pretty good in college...showed a nice inside out stutter step release and hand use to get into the stem...although I'd agree other than route running it probably needs the most work in his game...still he has the ball awareness catch radius and tracking ability to where at times you don't need him to defeat a guy early off the line...and he uses his hands well late in his vertical stem

I think it's just a matter of time like everything else with this kid...and press reps vs Maxwell should only speed up the learning curve

1200 and 8 or I think he underachieves/underutilized this year

Do we have enough at the WR position if DVP is plagued by injuries this season to be competitive? People are always talking about the good/great depth we have at the position. By my observation after Jarvis and DVP we have potential and nothing else.

if dvp goes down/limited it becomes more about scheme and gameplan than pure talent in this wr core from my point of view

exception being possibly caroo but he's not a parker level talent

Not very often do you see a performance from a rookie WR like the one Parker put on once he got healthy. The 20 yard average is ridiculous for anyone let alone a rookie. He also won't be lining up at the same spot every snap or the same side (like Sherman's offense). Gase will move players around to find the mismatches. I'm more concerned about staying on the field compared to anything else. Once he refines his technique he is going to be scary.

Don't agree with this quote "like a poor man's DeAndre Hopkins".

How can a bigger, faster, and at least as talented Parker be the poorer version?

Hopkins is a very good receiver, no knock on him. Parker's ceiling is just higher.

Just stay healthy my man.
