Exellent Analysis of Miami/Chicago Game

Nice read...but did you notice the coments below the analysis?

Jesus thinks we stink:boohoo:

Yeah that was a very good analysis and that is pretty par for the course for the guys at footballoutsiders. They do a good job. I completely agree with everything they say about Joey, Ronnie, JT, and the Oline. I see us either going with Daunte or with someone else other than Joey. If Ronnie gets the ball more, he will show he can be one of the best backs in the league. JT is still JT. And the oline has improved. Hopefully we can build on this and continue to improve even more.

Great analysis I really like the details about our O-line with the move they did putting Shelton at guard and putting McIntosh to tackle!

The bleeding stopped thanks to a Harrington interception on an exceptional individual effort by Alex Brown (another great defensive lineman). Harrington, in fact, did everything he could to keep the Bears in the game. The one thing that can be said in his favor is that he avoids sacks. This is in large part because he seems to throw more passes behind the line of scrimmage than past the first-down marker. His first two touchdowns were nice throws, but his third one was nearly intercepted. The three drives covered a total of 42 yards.

The Joey Harrington era is only likely to last the season, as either Daunte Culpepper will get healthy or the Dolphins will start form scratch. The rebuilt offensive line has shown the ability to free Ronnie Brown. The defensive front seven, while aging, is still a venerable group that excels against the run. If the Dolphins get average play from Harrington, and the pass rush can protect the mediocre secondary then … well then the Dolphins may win six games.

More likely, the Dolphins will get inconsistent play from Harrington and watch their secondary get exposed by everyone from Damon Huard to Jon Kitna. This victory highlighted some of the pieces that made Miami a chic playoff pick. Unfortunately, the pieces that have them 2-6 are likely to be featured on a regular basis going forward.

Damn, kind of harsh.

I seem to think it is.

HOW DARE YOU INSULT JOEY HARRINGTON?? HOW DARE YOU SIR!!

:sidelol: :sidelol:

Seriously, doubting Joey means you're with the terrorists, or something around these boards.

The part about from here on out it being much more likely that everyone exposes why we're 2-6 and not why we were preseason darlings?

I hope that's not true. We need better QB play, but we were in every game we've lost this year. We've had a chance against them all. And now after beating Chicago the question isn't, who CAN we beat, it is who CAN'T we beat?

If we can beat Chicago in Chicago, we can beat anyone remaining on our schedule. We could have beat anyone that we already played on our schedule, we just didn't. That's the way the cookie crumbled. Now it's time to change that. That's the way I view it.

Yeah I agree considering Joey has or is just now developing a rhythm and timing with his wr's it's my opinion that he will continue to improve, sometimes he makes a bad throw but ultimately he will get better.

I think its important to note that right now contrary to most non dolphin fans we have a good stable of QB's. And I feel comfortable that with this SYSTEM, any of the 3 can come in and be successful.

How many other teams in the NFL can say that? I mean usually when a starter goes down you assume a major let down not, not any more for Miami.

Are these guys the best in the league? probably not, but for the first time in my experience of being a fan (25 years) its the system not the QB, and that my finheaven friends IMO is huge for us.

This offseason can be used to shore up and address other areas other than QB.

Great read thanks for the post!

I was more agreeing with them about Harrington and our QB situation for the future. I do think we can beat anyone if we played like we did against the Bears. But they are still right about our weak secondary.

If Joey can play well, we should beat the bad teams. If Joey cannot, we'll finish the season the way we started it.

IMO, we could hit .500 if Jason Allen and Y. Bell step up their games.

I think stable is different than good. Your right, it is stable. I think Joey has played decent so far. He hasn't lost any games, but he didn't play great in the win. My problem with Joey is his inaccuracy. He leaves too many big plays out there with poor deep passes. And even some of his intermediate passes aren't thrown to were the receiver can run effectively after the catch.

I think he is a solid backup. If you mean we haven't had stability at the backup position in a while, I would agree. But I would consider Jay Feidler a stable QB. It wasn't great or flashy, but he made plays that got us win and he didn't blow too many games.

Anyway, you are right that there are more pressing needs than QB at this point and we would probably be wise to address things like the secondary and adding some young talent at other positions before worrying about QB.

I guess my point is in theory, we don't have to say oh no our starter is down her comes ray lucas? you get my drift :)

My other point is there certainly appears to be a huge dropoff in talent between players like Tom Brady and his backup Matt Cassel, Petyon Manning and his backup Jim Sorgi etc etc...

And i would also state that the way this offensive system is based on what I am seeing if a QB goes down we won't "shut" down our passing attack it is a system and we have som decent playmakers to execute make a catch and get YAC.

So we're just good enough to avoid both the playoffs AND Calvin Johnson?

Cripes.
