It's Only Happened ONCE!
Luck was not on DeVante Parker’s side Sunday.
Officials wiped two catches, 42 yards and a touchdown off Parker’s stat line after checking the video replay.
And on that second reception they overturned -- a 32-yarder down the left sideline -- Parker suffered a game-ending back injury.
Parker’s back “locked up” after hitting the ground hard, Dolphins coach Adam Gase said. He followed the team’s medical staff to the locker room and did not return; Gase said the team is still in “the evaluation stage right now.”
But the initial prognosis was an encouraging one for the Dolphins. Team officials do not believe Parker’s injury is serious enough to keep Miami’s rising star from playing next Sunday against the Ravens.
“Just jumped up and landed on my back, my back was just hurting,” Parker said. “I wanted to come back, but I just couldn’t.”
Even with the two replay reversals -- both of which showed that he was out of bounds when he caught the ball -- Parker had 64 yards on three catches against the 49ers.
Injuries have been a concern throughout Parker’s NFL career, but he had finally began to hit his stride. In the last three weeks, Parker has 16 receptions for 246 yards and a score, quickly becoming Ryan Tannehill’s big-play target.
