Expanded Season

It's probably coming. The NFL wants more $$$. I'm assuming it will be 2011?? Well they talked about it on CBS a few weeks ago and mentioned some things that would happen for this, this is what I remember hearing[correct me if i'm wrong]:

-An extra regular season game and only 2 pre-season games.
-2 bye weeks per team instead of 1, for more rest.
-More players would be allowed on the team and on the practice squad.
-7 playoff teams. I assume only the #1 seed would get a bye week, like it was back when only 5 teams made the playoffs. 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5.

Anyone else hear anything else? I assume it's all speculation but everything up there seems legit.

Great. So now teams can lock up their divisions with 4 and 5 games left to play instead of 2 or 3. Then they can play their scrubs for a full month giving away wins to teams in playoff chases with other teams who have to actually play against 1st string NFL rosters. ****ing great.

Yes but it is coming so we must get used to it. The only thing I wonder is if the reverse could happen with teams fighting for that #1 seed, since #2 wouldn't be good enough for a first round bye. It could go either way and both would probably happen.

Spot on as usual from you. The only positive that arises from this is that it essentially guarantees that the 1972 Dolphins will be the only undefeated team in NFL history.

I can't believe you guys are actually complaining. Its an extra game you get to watch. But I dont get how they would do it with odd numbered amount of games. Im guessing they would alternate between 8 and 9 home games every year

Trick is; It has to go through the NFLPA in the upcoming talks. I imagine it will go over like lead bricks.

They say they care so much about player safety with all these bs penalties and then want to extend the season? If an extra bye is not given then something is seriously wrong here.
