This project took some time. Researching the finer points of the E&P scheme, learning the verbiage, pulling up Pats tape, applying the principles to the Dolphins personnel and explaining the basics of the scheme. Video breakdowns inside.

I don't want to downplay athletic ability, but the mental side of NFL QBs is critical and the reason most fail. I fear that mental skill can't be taught

I can't stand the Patriots! Partly, because when you watch what they do it's so simple and obvious. The op @Aqua4Ever04 illustrate a lot of those concepts in his amazing breakdown article.

Super job.

Went through it quickly and will delve into more when time permits.

Thanks!

Which is why I don't think the NFL is a copycat league

It's mind boggling how they run conceptually simple pick, rub routes for easy 5 yard completions when all they needed were 3 yards for the 1st down.
Wash repeat over and over and over with the running game and passing game.

I don't know what gives: Are other teams just that bad at executing consistently at this level or are they just that dumb/prideful as you've mentioned to "copy?"

Great Work!!! Excellent and informative read with my morning coffee. Thanks Aqua!

I really believe if his offense is similar to McDaniel's you can expect to see good things from Stills, Grant, and Wilson in this offense.

Guys like Welker, Edelman and Amendola small but fast, quick twitch guys have always excelled. Every time you watch the pats it feels like someone is wide open, with the route concepts and crossing patterns.

Stills Grant and Wilson may not be tough enough with all the hits they are going to take. The talent is there just not the talent to stay healthy.

I agree if we're looking at a guy like Edelman as their model for that offense. Edelman takes A LOT of abuse and I don't see Grant/Albert being able to replicate that in this offense.

I agree with that, but it's unrealistic to NOT do it until Flores gets the next Edleman. That scheme works . . . very well. Don't have to do it 20 times a game, but a few times keeps a D honest. And unlike Edleman, Still/Grant/Wilson can burn a napping D with a long ball.

Those crossing routes are just one of the plays NE runs. I've mentioned elsewhere, if Brady sees man coverage, he'll move receivers around to get a matchup he likes. Quick slants. A number of those Miami could (but never has) run, although the quickness is there. The hurdle is the quick analytical QB. Fans have a bad habit of wanting a QB 'with all the tool,' but one of those tools is never mental quickness. IMO, that's because the necessary quickness in college isn't the same as mental quickness in the NFL. We see those failures every year.

Edelman sure has taken his lumps in this offense. He has missed some games.

That's where Laundry shined taking the hits. Well we had both Wes Weller and Chris Hogan here didn't even cost a draft pick so we can do it again. These guys in this type of system can be free agents.
