To see a team with as many injuries to key positions on offense and defense (Arizona Cardinals) as they have and are going through it is amazing they are 11-3.

I read plenty of threads here that complain about Tannehill and that offer the injury reason as to why we are not better and then witness a team that has lost their starting QB twice early in the season, lost a couple or three RB's lost some defensive line help and yet...they keep winning. Are the "stats" very good? Nope but the TEAM shows remarkable energy and resilience.

They can't really run the ball effectively...passes are mostly hit or miss and they play in a pretty tough division.....soooooo
......is it personnel?? coaching??? scheme???

I know this I would absolutely love to be at 11-3 knowing I still have some of my best talent on the bench than to worry about how deep my QB can throw. I believe the coaches are getting the most out of what they have and as a result the players are energized and full of self confidence. I believe this all comes down to leadership and taking personal responsibility in demonstrating excellence.

It reminds me of some teams in the past that despite their talent or lack thereof they came out each and every week and played like a team possessed.....I miss the days when our team showed that kind of grit and determination....I miss the leadership needed to get that done.

That's because Arians is a real coach

^^ What he said, we have a coach more worried about how the sideline trashcans look like more then winning the game.

yeah its great and all but that teams not gonna do much in the postseason even if they had staunton still...

I get what you're saying. It's like as soon as something goes wrong for us the team melts under pressure. That's lack of leadership on both the coaching staff and the players. It happens in real life jobs too. Long time ago when I was a cook at the Olive Garden me and a couple of other guys had so much pride in what we did that when the manager would say to us that someone called in sick our response would always be " great, he'll be out of our way"

lasts nights game was tough to watch from an offensive perspective......but a great effort by the Cardinals defense to do what is necessary to win a ball game. They are aggressive, attacking and confident on the defensive side of the ball. I don't think they can go far in the playoffs due to their QB situation....but a good solid team.

I was more impressed with their win last week at KC. With about a minute left, KC had the ball and needed to get into field goal range to tie the game. Our fins....would have rushed 3 and let them move the ball but try to keep everything in front of them. The Cardinals, blitzed every down and gave Alex Smith absolutely no time to look downfield and he was sacked and could only hit minor check down passes. It is an aggressive style of play that works in the NFL that we don't employ. It is the difference between a "playing to win" mentality and a "playing not to lose" mentality.

I also like that Arians....even with his 3rd string QB in the game last night, has him slinging passes down the field. While the QB play wasn't pretty, it is again that mentality that we aren't going to change what we do well because we have an injury. They kept attacking and at least was able to win the field position battle. There were also times when the 3rd string QB was in...that it appeared they had 7 -8 lineman in the game, with 5 on one side and 3 on the other......or vice versa. Kind of a jumbo strong formation that helped them ground out yards.

I like Arians style a lot.

We are running into a multifaceted issue with this team that starts off field. First, Arians coaching staff blows ours out of the water. Second, our team never had decent depth. We haven't had it for a while. That's on Ireland. Third, our team lacks leadership. Leadership from the coaching staff, and alpha male players that won't stand losing, and raise the level of play from the players around them.

I agree with everything that is said in this thread. What really annoys me with Philbin is it's so obvious that he doesn't trust his players. Rarely do we go for it on 4th down, rarely do rookies play and so many more things. I can only imagine that takes the fun out of the game for those players.

I believe their coach said something like "if we're gonna make mistakes we're gonna make them downfield "

yeah its great and all but that teams not gonna do much in the postseason even if they had staunton still...

They may not do much in the playoffs....but they are headed there and who knows? The same MAY have been said about the 72 Dolphins...or the superbowl winning Ravens with Trent Dilfer or The Bucs...I am not comparing the overall personnel but simply pointing out the TEAM with solid coaching and an aggressive defense/special teams unit can be good enough until the offense gets it together...it starts with a coaching staff with the ATTITUDE of never say never that infiltrates the players...then be SURE you have strong lines on BOTH sides of the ball...everything else will manifest from there. Enough already with those looking at our QB or T-Rex arms diva wide receiver or even our RB's...we do need to address these areas just not first....not for the greater good.

It's the coaches mentality. They have a killer instinct, and Philbin doesn't even know how to spell that.

I am so tired of seeing us milk the clock with a lead instead of going Peyton Manning on them and just continuing to go after the other team. I HATE playing scared!!! We have the pieces on this team and only need a couple items (Oline depth and TE). We need a different mindset on the sidelines and if that means a new coach then that's what we need to do.
