PHILADELPHIA–The offseason is a time for hope and promises, and this is the time of year we get our first shot at seeing which of those come true.
The Dolphins are done with training camp and moving toward what many consider the most important preseason game, No. 3, at Philadelphia on Thursday. With about three weeks remaining until the season opener, here’s a look at six offseason hopes and how valid they’ve proven:

While we really can't judge any of these assertions until at least 4 games are played, I'm still worried about the run defense. I think the FO made some good moves in an attempt to solidify the run defense. Hayes, Timmons, McDonald have proven themselves effective against the run. Godchaux looks like an upgrade on Phillips. I believe McMillan would have significantly helped as well. Jones' return will surely help.

Here's where I worry. I'm not convinced the wide-9 puts our players in the best position to be effective against the run. Even with veteran players last year, the D-line didn't seem to practice gap discipline and the linebackers were hung out to dry. Will the players be more disciplined this year? Only time will tell.
