“The reason Jarvis Landry gets talked up, part of the reason is because he went to school with Odell Beckham so they always throw him in the graphics with Odell Beckham,” Fahey said on the Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz. “The main reason he gets talked about is because of the number of catches he has but you have to understand how those catches came about. When Joe Philbin was running the offense, the whole offense was designed to run through Jarvis Landry, which is fine but it means he was getting schemed open all the time, it mens the receptions he was getting he really didn’t have to work for.

“If you want to pay a top receiver, he has to either run great routes so he’s always open or he has to win at the catch point, that would be offering your quarterback a greater margin for error and Landry doesn’t do that. If you stack him up against the best wide receivers in the league he doesn’t look like any of them and doesn’t play like any of them. Really it’s all about forcing the ball to him and if I was the Dolphins I would let him walk and just play Leonte Carroo if Caroo is ready or look for someone else.”

For the record, I disagree. The Patriots would scoop him up in a second and turn him into the next Wes Welker. (Althought many of us said the same thing about Davone Bess, lol)

Landry also brings an intangible to the team that I don't think can be readily replaced. His energy and attitude helps galvanize the team in tough situations.

Who is Fahey? I'm not trying to be sarcastic, I've actually never heard of him.

Who is this idiot, Fahey?

I've actually liked his past analysis of Tannehill. He put out detailed articles showing Tannehill's development. He's a big Tannehill supporter. I'm surprised by his take on Landry. He doesn't think he runs good routes? That seems to be Landry's strength. He has a knack for running short routes an pivoting on a dime to turn it into a long TD. He's done it several times already.

For the record, I have high hopes for Carroo.

But the bond that Jarvis has with Ryan Tannehill is unbreakable. You take Jarvis off this team, I think you seriously put a hit on Ryan's Tannehill's upward trend.

If we've seen anything this year on the Dolphins, football is more than just looking at stats and specs, there has gotta be a bond to get the best out of these guys. We see it on the DLine and we've seen it with Juice and 17.

Really stupid decision to let Landry walk. You can't replace that on the field or off it.

Yeah, Landry brings attitude and some intangibles, but Fahey's not wrong here. Name one extrodinary thing that Landry does on the field that the Fins should pay premium money for in his next contract.

Does beg to be question what's his price? We can't pay him alpha Julio jones money but we do need to pay him. I'm thinking 7-8 per

They will make him a mutant version of Wes Welker. Landry is the kind of intelligent and physical receiver that Pats love. No way we should let him go! Ever!

He makes plays. Period.

Obviously I wouldn't give him Dez Bryant money or anything, but he should demand a big contract. He's been very productive during his 3 seasons here, and he does run exceptional routes IMO and fights for the ball more than his frame should indicate. I view him as a Hines Ward / Steve Smith type. However those guys were paid in relation to their peers in their prime, Landry should be paid the same way.
