Was anyone here disappointed in the play of our OL, in the first 9 games of last year with 5 new starters, and then Pouncey?

Good question. I'd say no. We have some pieces in place, but there are still major questions at guard and our tackle depth is laughable. I wouldn't try to convince yourself otherwise.

One question I have after thinking about the OL and the offense was regarding the OL line coach. Philbin and even Lazor got criticism about the OL performance but I really don't remember much said about Benton except in the beginning of the season when things were going fairly well.

I am not saying that I have a better plan than was executed last year (to some extent it looked like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic at the end) but how did Philbin and Lazor end up with the vast majority of the criticism when the coach directly responsible is hardly mentioned?

I wonder what Benton will do differently this year.

I wasn't dissapointed, but only because the bar was set so low. The bar had been set so low that below average OL play appeared passable. Now imagine if your pro-bowl LT in his early 30s doesn't come back at full strength and we just sit on our hands for the 4th year in a row...

I was pleasantly surprised at our oline for the first few weeks.
I was more disappointed in the total cave in of the oline after Albert went down. The FO really left Benton with nothing in the cup board.
That really killed our changes against some good teams, and losing to bad teams late in the season.

I thought the O-Line was very good before Albert went down. His injury exposed the lack of depth and precipitated their poor finish.

That is why I feel that Miami needs to add functional depth at OL, and hopefully one new OG who can start right away. They do not NEED to draft an OL in round 1 and I don't think I would unless Scherf slid to #14.

I do like Collins from LSU as well, but #14 is too rich for him.
