Falcons Progress and the Dolphins lack there of......coaching?

So, the Falcons had the worst defense last year (look it up). They had one of the worst offensive lines in the league as well. During the last week of pre-season they pick up 2 or 3 lineman and put a patchwork offensive line together. These guys are now protecting the hell out of Matt Ryan. The defense, although not great, has been playing inspired ball. How do I know this, I live in Atlanta and I hear it every day on the radio.

They got rid of a soft, uninspiring Coach. It's now time for the Dolphins to do the same.

There is no reason for the Dolphins to be playing like this.

Suh, Wake, OV, can not automatically suck in 2015, when they balled in 2014. Can they?

They look like a COMPLETELY different team under Quinn. Smith was ****ing awful and was dragging that team down for way too long. Holes all over that roster, but the results are the power of quality coaching.
 
It's so weird.. They just came out so flat against Washington. People were saying it's only the first game and all that, but you could kind of tell they weren't really fired up at all. Then it continued against the Jags and Bills. Why would they come out like that from the beginning? It's not like we have a ton of players from last years squad that are fed up with Philbin.. We have a lot of new players. This offseason players were talking about playoffs as if it was a sure thing. It's bizarre, but it's the Dolphin, so that is kind of the norm, I guess.
 
I am in Atlanta too. The thing is that Quinn wanted a simply get to the ball defense. Players who have literally sucked the last three years are making plays. The Fins have more talent and the defense is Swiss cheese. Look at coaching and Quinn is a fiery, get it done leader. philbin is nice at least.
 
I know there are exceptions to the rule (ie Tony Dunghy, Hoodie in NE) but the coach who can inspire its players, who command respect, and who is a tough SOB guy on the sidelines (ie Shula, Parcells, Jimmy J, Mike Ditka) are the coaches that players want to play for and cause positive progression on the team. When you look at our coach on the sidelines....do you honestly think he inspires anything from anyone? There is no progress, because our coaches cannot inspire trust, or progress from our players.
 
Dan Quinn...Fmr client of Mike Tannenbaum. Think if Tannenbaum was allowed to hire his own coach it might have been Quinn? Or Rex? Or Hue Jackson...look at the development of Andy Dalton under Jackson.

It is just amazing how this franchise misses on coaches that can provide the proper leadership a team needs.

This offseason I would add Teryl Austin to Jackson as possible good candidates.
 
Just another example of a missed opportunity for the Dolphins to get the right guy and take the next step. Congrats to Atlanta on getting the right guy.
 
I think Quinn could be a good coach, but you guys are putting too much stock into coaching.

Let us not pretend that all of the sudden Atlanta has a good defense. They were indeed the league's worst last season. They are better than that now, so give Quinn so credit. But, do not pretend that defense is suddenly good. They have been shredded pretty badly. They have trailed in the 4th qtr of every game. They have given up rushing yards and points a plenty. Our defense is still better than Atlanta's.

Their OL is still trash as well, but there has been improvement. They have had a horrendous OL for several years. Unlike the case with the Phins, it is not an overstatement to say they have been the league's worst. They have gotten a little better, but let us be honest here, they brought in Jake Long and hope to start him. That is not an indication of great talent on the OL.

But, they come back and win 3 straight games, 2 of them on the road, when trailing in the 4th qtr to some good teams. They have done this mainly because of good QB play and the best WR in the league. The biggest difference in the Phins and Falcons is the level of QB play.

You see, no one in Falcons land is blaming the defense because their QB is LEADING them to some tough wins, getting the job done in the 4th qtr. This, despite the fact their defense has surrendered more points than the Dolphins have. Yet, in Phins land, it is all about how much the defense and OL suck. They suck worse in Atlanta, but their defense is getting PRAISE and people are talking about their attitude on defense and giving the HC credit.

You see the contrast? One team(Phins) is playing not great, but not horrible on defense and getting **** for it and the coaching staff is getting trashed as well. The other team(Falcons) is playing worse than the other team on defense and getting credit for being aggressive and improved. :lol:

WHY is that? Because that team is winning. WHY is that team winning and the other is not? QB PLAY!!!!!!!

:lol2: You've been waiting over two years to make this post.... Hide under a rock for the 4-12 and 6-10 seasons, then popup when they win a few. Where the hell have you been about Matt Ryan for the last two years? Not a peep.....
