Fangio and Van Ginkle

Is there actual evidence of that? Or just opinion?

Not busting balls, I just don't recall seeing that and I follow the team pretty closely.

I'm skeptical because of the seemingly forced move to reserve ILB in TC.
yeah he was asked in his presser and responded “ yeah I called him” when he was on his free agent tour

Fangio lobbied for van ginkel and now van ginkel is our defensive mvp thus far, I’d bet he doesn’t go anywhere
Holland has been the Dolphins defensive MVP but I agree AVG has been an important player for the Dolphins on defense.
Once again, I agree that I would love to see AVG remain with the Dolphins beyond this season. My original statement in this thread was I don’t believe a backup LB is worth $10 million a year. As much as I like AVG, the fact is right now he is a backup LB and not a starter when the rest of the starting LB’s are healthy.

Unless he eventually takes over on a permanent basis for Phillips or Chubb, I just don’t see the Dolphins offering him $10 million a year. Maybe $3-5 million a year to be a solid backup but that’s about all they could afford based on their cap situation after this season.

I don’t label the player a backup when assessing his value to the team it has no relevance imo

His contract should reflect his importance his production and value to the team in all phases

If there was no cap, I would agree with you. Yet the fact Van Ginkle isn’t on the field that much when all the starting LB’s are healthy must mean he isn’t valued as much as those players are by Fangio.

With no cap, I wouldn’t care how much they pay him or any other player. I just see resigning Williams, Hunt, And Jackson on the OL, along with resigning Tua as a bigger need going into next season than signing AVG.

To me this all about the cap and who the Dolphins need to spend their money on to ensure they keep Tua healthy. I love Wilkins too but I would hate to see the Dolphins lose effective offensive linemen because they
wouldn’t be able to pay enough to sign them because Wilkins and AVG sign contracts that pay them $30 million a year combined.

I dont think we can be accurate at this point in terms of spending and cutting

Remember we can cut salaries too, ogbah for example

I agree but as I stated earlier, I believe resigning Williams, Hunt, Jackson and a new contract for Tua should be the Dolphins priority after this season.

Hopefully they can find the money to also resign Wilkins and AVG but the fact is, the Dolphins offense is the reason they are 3-0 now.

Fangio has put Baker in for 93% of snaps through three weeks

So he clearly rates him.

Love AVG and hope we resign him … but the prevailing narrative about Baker is just weird.
100% correct. Jerome Baker has been written off by 62% of FH but he's a better fit in the Fangio Defensive system and I thought he made some decent plays against Denver. I recall a video of Shake'n'Bake in the preseason saying that he absolutely loves the new Defensive system. He's still very athletic. At the end of the day, Fangio will make his own assessment and maybe the 93% snaps played is a good indicator, that he already has.

Wait. Are you trying to tell me Fangio doesn't come here for player evaluations?

Naw. That's just crazy talk.
