Fanspeak On the Clock Mock Draft Simulator

I have done this exercise before but let's take the Fanspeak rankings and create a list of players of interest within certain ranges.

As a test case, we'll take the #16 draft order in each round, using the 2017 distribution of compensatory picks, and we'll say that any player ranked within 20% of Rich Hill's chart value of the #16 pick in the round is "within range".

These are the players at each stage that would go on my short list for being picked. I've bolded the values that I often find too compelling to pass up:

Mid-1st (Rankings #010-040): WR Christian Kirk, OG Billy Price, DT Vita Vea, LB Roquon Smith, CB Tarvarus McFadden, CB Denzel Ward, CB Jaire Alexander, CB Josh Jackson, S Derwin James, S Ronnie Harrison

Mid-2nd (Rankings #041-070)
: RB Royce Freeman, RB Rashaad Penny, TE Mark Andrews, OT Orlando Brown, OG Isaiah Wynn, DE Marcus Davenport, LB Malik Jefferson

Mid-3rd (Rankings #071-112)
: RB Sony Michel, RB Bo Scarborough, WR Simmie Cobbs, TE Hayden Hurst, TE Mike Gesicki, OG Will Hernandez, DE Clelin Ferrell, DE Dorance Armstrong, CB Holton Hill, CB Isaiah Oliver, S Damon Webb

Mid-4th (Rankings #113-150)
: QB Josh Allen, RB Mark Walton, WR Jester Weah, WR Anthony Miller, TE Ian Thomas, OT Timon Parris, OC Frank Ragnow, CB Carlton Davis

Mid-5th (Rankings #151-190)
: QB Clayton Thorson, RB Kerryon Johnson, TE Adam Breneman, LB Josey Jewell, LB Matthew Thomas, LB Skai Moore, CB Deatrick Nichols

Mid-6th (Rankings #191-224)
: QB Ryan Finley, RB Kalen Ballage, RB Jaylen Samuels, TE Dallas Goedert, OG Braden Smith, DE Lorenzo Carter, DE Austin Bryant

Mid-7th (Rankings #225-Plus)
: QB Riley Ferguson, RB Jarvion Franklin, WR Michael Gallup, WR Allen Lazard, TE Jeb Blazevich, OG Larry Allen Jr., DE Jalyn Holmes, DE Justin Lawler, LB Dorian O'Daniel, LB Rashaan Evans, LB Keishawn Bierria, CB Rashard Fant

I'm surprised you didn't take advantage of Rashaan Evans being conveniently rated in the 7th round. If you used the Fanspeak board, that is.

I honestly have no idea what the "difficult" algorithm is compared to the normal one, or what that means.

I used Matt Miller's big board. I just figured it was probably the closest thing to how I've had this class graded. Rashaan Evans came off the board in the 1st round.

I haven't looked at his yet. The only board I had come across that generally didn't have cartoon-ish value plays was the NFL Draft Scout board, but it hasn't been updated in a bit. The NFLDS board has some oversights but it's the one that consistently made me feel the least convinced that I could pull in like five or six first rounders.

EDIT: You're right. Miller's is not particularly easy.

R1: DE Clelin Ferrell, Clemson
R2: TE Mark Andrews, Oklahoma
R3: OC Frank Ragnow, Arkansas
R4: DE Marcus Davenport, UTSA
R4: RB Royce Freeman, Oregon
R6: OG Timon Parris, Stony Brook
R7: FB Jaylen Samuels, North Carolina State
R7: WR Jaleel Scott, New Mexico State

Was gutted that I missed out on Will Hernandez in the 3rd round. The most ridiculous picks in there seem to be Marcus Davenport and Jaleel Scott. The only way Davenport comes close to the 4th round is if he runs like a 5.0 at the Combine, and that itself seems an impossibility based on the speed he shows on tape. I don't see any way Jaleel Scott comes close to the 7th round, either.

Used the Millen one...Not sure how Clelin Ferrell fell down this low, but I grabbed him in the 4th.

I don't feel that good about simulators atm. The boards all suck. But I'd love something like this.

Roquon Smith is growing on me, one of the best read and react LB's I've seen this year. Not only a great feel for the game but he gets from point A to point B about as fast as I've seen since another LB from Georgia, Alec Ogletree.
