As much as I didn't want Favre this year I think he'll be better despite being older next year b/c he'll have a year in the system, a full offseason and experience w/ his teammates.

What's your opinion on his shoulder injury? I heard on ESPN that he won't need any major surgery, but it has to be a concern considering his age. Of course this all hinges on him coming back for another year.

Lets say he doesn't come back. What do you think the Jets will do then? Stay with Clemens? Look for a QB in FA? Draft one?

I think the Jets should go with Clemens or Ratliff next year. Ratliff was actually out preforming Pennington and Clemens during Training camp. We thought nothing of it at the time because he was a nobody. But then tears up the preseason games also. So it gets us Jets fans wondering if this kid might be another Tony Romo or something, an undrafted QB that turns out to be a starting QB in this league. He has a strong arm, accurate, shows tons of confidence, showed really good pocket presence.
I say let Clemens and Ratliff battle it out. Our OL is built for running the football, yet we seemed to get away from it a lot of this year. Schottenheimer is so inconsistent in his playcalling, he gets too cute at times. I would hope he gets fired by the next HC, unless its his dad Marty to come. Then he would have Schottenheimer be OC still most likely, but have him not be as cute and stick to the run game and play action passes more.
Made little sense that we didn't go run first, because our team was built for a run offense. We have two very good RBs in Jones and Leon. Our OL basically is built for it, our FB is one of the best in the game. And our WRs really aren't explosive for a pass heavy offense. Coles and Cotchery are good, but they are more of possession guys. They would be better when we do play actions, and we have a dangerous weapon in Dustin Keller that could burn any LB in the NFL if one was covering him.

Depends on who our next HC is, but man alive was our gameplans bad this year. All around also, the defensive playcalling was horrible too. Our defense loved to rush 3 guys only and drop everyone else back in zone. Teams still passed all over us, because QBs got comfortable in the pocket with little pressure. I realize we were 7th in sacks this year with 41. But it seemed like they came in bunches and we didn't have a consistent pass rush.
You guys saw it against us last week, we gave Chad all day to throw. We rushed 3-4 guys most of the time. Very rarely blitzed.

Thats why I am in favor of Marty Schottenheimer or Steve Spagnuolo. Both at least have shown that they are for aggressive defenses.

He was hurting but that's not why he sucked. You could still see the arm was good enough, it was his head that cost us.

I think Bret Ratliff is our QB of the future. I know people will say "who"? But I think he's the guy of the future. Whether that future is next year or 2 years from now I don't know but that's how I feel and part of the reason I want favre back b/c not only do I think he'll be better w/ a year under his belt here but he'll give us a better bridge to Ratliff.

If favre doesn't come back, I look at a stop gap like a Jeff garcia or a Kerry Collins assuming they become available.

Sorry but it was his arm thatlost you games. Favre always throws the ball where it should not go but gets away with it because he is strong and daring enough to make it happen. He lost that zip this year. He should of been benched mid season and allowed to heal up.

If Favre comes back next year even though he is older he is only going to be better then he was last year. I dont think B Schott is going anywhere so the Offense will most likely stay the same.

I would like to draft a QB or give Ratliff a shot though. I'm hoping for Rex Ryan as coach. I like Spags a lot and he was my first choice after Cowher but I dont want to switch back to a 4-3 which is what he probably would want to do.

I wouldn't want him back unless next year was Super Bowl or bust. He's just a stopgap and is just holding back Clemens from developing

I dont like the jets but i think Farve should retire and the should start the rookie they drafted last year from Tennesse

No it wasn't, it was poor decision mkaing. He had the same arm early in the year and he threw a million INTs b/c of poor decision making.

We definitely could make a run w/ the right CS, we still have alot of talent. At one point we were 8-3 having humiliated the AFC's best team in their building. Let's not forget that and if Favre kept playing like he did from the Buf through Ten games we still wouldn't be playing this week but we would be playing next week.

I think Ratliff is our future QB and I'm not sure he's ready so favre for 1 more year would be fine.
