Farve/Rogers Scenario in 2012 for us?

Alot of people are so high on this sitting the rookie crap. Look at Henne, he sat behind one of the best, if not the best guy to sit behind and learn from in Pennington. And look how that turned out.

Rodgers learned nothing from Favre, Favre refused to teach him.
and now Rodgers is a much better QB in his prime than Favre was.

What better why is there to learn than to get in there and play? IF we get a QB, put his *** in and let him play.

For every one QB that has sit, there are have a dozen more that started from day one and are doing just fine.

actually, Henne learned A LOT from Pennington. WHat hurt him was the coaches not trusting him to get the job done.

Let's look at Hasselback/Locker for a good comparison. Matt knew he didn't have long left as a starter, and the team he signed with drafted a QB in the top 10 this past draft. He knew he was there just to hold down the fort until Locker is ready. Jon Kitna was in a similar situation when the Bengals picked Carson Palmer.

Favre/Rodgers is actually a horrible comparison. Favre never really helped Rodgers and made fun of him a lot after being traded to the Jets. Aaron Rodgers is too classy to do it, but I know he would love to rip on Favre.

But yeah it all depends on the vet. Some understand that they are there to mentor and will be replaced shortly, but others think that they are still the guy

I don't know if the Packers wanted to sit Rodgers behind Favre as long as they did. I think it was just because Favre wouldn't go away. Plus, I don't think he learned a lot from Brett because from what I heard he didn't want to teach the guy who was going to one day replace him. I don't think we need to sit someone for three years. Rodgers is special, plain and simple. We can only hope to end up that lucky with a qb that talented.

This isn't the old days. Young quarterbacks are having more success than ever these days. Peyton Manning started day one and went 13-3 in his second year. Eli Manning played most of his rookie year and won the NFC East in year two. Ben Roethlisberger went 15-1 as a rookie and won the Super Bowl in year two. The Jets, Falcons and Ravens became contenders right away when Sanchez, Ryan and Flacco started day one.

I alluded in a different thread that a coach these players respond to and Andrew Luck might turn this team around relatively quickly. There is enough young talent around that can continue to grow with Luck as he develops.
