how good is this guy i know he was projected as one of the best te in college when he came out we need a te to step up big time in this offence.alot of the real good teams have a real good te you need that threat over the middle who can not only block but get those yac can this guy be the guy the next keith jackson. man i loved watching him play i just think a te has to be a big part of the offence randy was pretty good but can this guy be the guy we have been looking for??

Thats what I'm hoping for, but do not count your eggs before they've hatched.

Honestly, I think he has little impact. I know he was behind a terrific TE in Whiten in Dallas, but Fasano has had his chances and has done little. This just seems like David Martin all over again to me.

I am always suprised how you can identify 1 player in a offence and expect him to carry the team. look at watson he had a rough time in NE in the year reche and jabbar as WR. Last year he put some great numbers [corrected an error].

fasano had owens and glen/patrick on the outside and witten on the field drawing alot of coverage leaving him free or on a slow OLB which gave him an advantage. so consider that as a unit how they pressure the defence leads to a player stats.

I thought Watson's 2007 was decent but not great. If anything, I would say he had a statistically better year in 2006.

When did Watson have five touchdown receptions in a game? On NFL.com the most touchdown receptions it shows him having in a game last season was two.

I went and read some of the Dallas Forum discussions about our trade with them and, to be honest, they seemed to be sad that they lost him and talked about how he had great potential. The only problem was not getting his chance to shine because he is behind Witten, a pro bowler. The potential is there, otherwise i don't think our guys would have gone after him. He will be one of our QB's security blanket this year i think.

You are comparing a 24 year old stud to a 29 year old never-was. You are comparing the 53rd overall pick in the 2006 draft to the 35th pick in the 6th round of the 2001 draft. You are comparing a guy who has played behind one of the elite TE's in the league during his ROOKIE season and 2nd year to a guy who has already been given eight years of opportunity and even one year to start for our beloved squad and done nothing.

How can you say Fasano has done little? The 2006 draft was loaded with quality at TE. 1. V. Davis - has been injured frequently and although given an excellent situation to shine he has yet to produce. 2. Marcedes Lewis - great athlete but selected by a run heavy team. Seemed to get more into the mix of the passing game late last season and moving into his third year we should see him make more of an impact on the stat sheet. 3. Joe Klopfenstein - looked like the best fit for a team needing a TE... until a relationship between new coach and former player (R. McMichael) blew up in his face. He still gets on the field but until McMichael leaves he won't do much. Also, the Rams O-line struggled with injuries last season and the TE's were used more to help out with protecting the QB. 4. ANTHONY FASANO - discussed his situation above.

Lets even take a look at the players selected behind Fasano:

Tony Scheffler - Seen some injuries but read nothing but good things about his abilities and what is expected of him in Denver.

Leonard Pope - This guy is a beast but he is clearly down on the option list on a team that included Fitzgerald, Boldin, and B. Johnson. Great size however and is already making an impact in the red zone.

Dave Thomas - Injured his foot early in his second season. Has not made an impact yet (thank god, he is a Cheater) but again, expectations are high.

Dominique Byrd - wasted talent due to off the field issues and lack of motivation. He was a dominant force at USC and now is fighting just to stay in the league.

Owen Daniels - Here is the guy who has made the greatest impact. Great situation playing on the Texans. Got the opportunity to play immediately and has a stud receiver in A. Johnson getting most of the defense's focus. In only his second season had 63 rec., 768 yards and 3 TD's. One of the top young guys moving up at the TE spot.

With the exception of Byrd all of these guys are expected to perform. Injury or, in the case of Joe K., team dynamic combined with the fact they are all entering only THEIR THIRD YEAR in the league have kept their numbers down. This season should be the year you start to see these guys make an impact. I, for one, am glad we have one of them on our side.

Given our situation on offense I suspect Fasano was brought in to start. Considering they know his abilities and assuming we will be playing from behind again this year I will predict these numbers:

52 rec., 650 yards and 3 Td's. Martin, by the way, posted 34 rec., 303 yards and 2 Td's last season. No comparison!

When Fasano had his chance, that offense didn't skip a beat. I saw, on several occasions, big plays being made by whom i thought was Witten. I had Witten on my fantasy team and was very surprised to see a good chunk of his production was missing becuase it was actually achieved by Fasano.

I hear he is a good blocker to go along with his hands. I think this is a solid pickup!!

Maybe it had to do with his banged up shoulder which needed repair...? I dunno

Anthony Fasano: In 32 games, 11 starts 28 rec, 269 9.6 ypc average and 1 TD.

Where a player is drafted is hardly proof of future success. BP has had his share of DP that didn't pan out, it happens. Maybe in a different system he can produce, but in his chances in Dallas he's hardly lit it up. We'll see what happens, I just don't see much from Fasano, to this point. If I'm wrong I'll be more then happy to admit it.

IMO Fasano is an upgrade over what we had. He should be the starter. He's good enough to make some plays in the offense but he won't be any kind of a focal point. I'm hoping for about 35-40 receptions with some of those being some key first downs and and about 3-5 TDs from the TE position.

Dude, you are talking about a guy who has played two years in the NFL. What do you expect from a guy in his ROOKIE and SECOND season?!? Especially when he is playing behind an ELITE player at his position. He hasn't been given a chance. He will get his chance here and you will see how valuable he is. Look me up when it happens.

We will draft a stud TE next year. This team can not be rebuilt in a year's time. Fasano + the new (guessing more athletic, pass catching) TE next year will be a nice combo.

For now, he is an adaquate starter.

We'll see. Just remember, everyone has an opinion and they're just opinions.
