I stumbled across his name a few places and looked him up. Looks like an absolute beast of an RB/FB. I doubt we'll get him but I could see us maybe getting Levi Brown and then have Ronnie Brown and Leonard rushing and grinding out some victories. Anyone know much about him. Any idea if he's available in the 2nd or 3rd that maybe we'd pick him up? Just an idea here.

A rutgers fan will say hes a god. However, he doesnt want to be a FB in the NFL, and he's not really all that impressive as a RB. So, he's kind of ruining his value.

Too bad. From the little I've been reading about him he sounds a lot like Mike Alstott or Rob Konrad.

i hope hes not that stupid to throw away millions just to play a position he would game limited playing time in as oposed to potentially being a star FB

He doesn't break tackles, or block like Alstott. He's extremely fast, and he has tremendous hands... I'll give him that, but I don't think he'll translate into a true NFL fullback. If he truly looks like Rob Konrad... and I hate to say this about a former Phin... but, I'd have to pass. I'd rather let my RB run, and get a guy like Leron McClain to blast LBs out of the way.

we just signed corey schlesinger in the off season, and we also have that guy from the navy we picked up from the pats practice squad last year. I don;'t see us signing another fullback this year unless it's a walk on FA in training camp

I always thought that we misused Konrad. He was a very good rushing Fb at Syracuse and a decent receiver and we tried to make a blocking FB out of him instead of using his strengths. If you have an exceptional Fb on a team why not make use out of them? But I concede the point. We're not likely to pick Leonard or another FB. I'm just fond of big, bruising runners.

:D

He is the quintessential 3rd down back. He is a better reciever than anyone on the Dolphins team right now.

He ran over Patrick Willis like he was a cutout in the senior bowl.

He has it all. God help us if he ends up with the Pats. Some mocks have the Pats taking him in the 1st round.

If we were to trade down into the the late first and pick up a 2nd and a 3rd we could draft him if he slid to the late second, but if we were going to be realistic, we would have to take him with the #40.

hell if we can get him instead of bush in the third then get him so we can actually convert 3rd downs this year

Brian Leonard played RB for 3 years in college.

He only played FB his senior year, which doesnt mean he couldnt play FB in the NFL but maybe he feels it's not his natural position.

He was being a team player when he moved into the FB spot after Ray Rice took the starting TB spot.

"Leaping Leonard" is plenty athletic enough to play RB in the NFL I think and at 6'1" and 226 lbs that's not a big FB.

Strengths:
A terrific runner for the position with great balance and instincts...Displays good feet and is deceptively agile...Tough, strong and powerful and does not go down easily...An excellent receiver and route runner with good hands who can run after the catch and be a weapon in the passing game...Unselfish and is a hard worker with great intangibles...An above average and adequate blocker...Versatile and a terrific all-around player who will be able to help a team out in a number of ways.

Weaknesses:
A fullback / running back 'tweener who might not have a true position at the next level...Does not have great timed speed or quickness...Will struggle to turn the corner at the pro level and won't do much damage outside...Is not much of a big play threat...Is not a true lead blocker and can still improve in that area...Might need to bulk up, add some weight and get stronger...Stats were down in 2006.
I think 6'1" and 226 is plenty big enough for a RB but as a blocking FB a "tweener" he is.

His stats were down because he was moved from RB to FB and Rice got the bulk of carries.

Rob Konrad is 6'3" and 255.
Schlesinger is 6 foot and 247.
Mike Alstott who he is being compared to is 6'1" and 248.

Leonard reminds me a lot of Chris Cooley -- I'd think he would project well as an H-back at the next level... A great receiver out of the backfield who would rather hit someone and try to run over a defender than run around them...

I think he'd be a nice compliment to R Brown, but I seriously doubt he'll be there when we pick at #40 and no chance he is there in the 3rd...

I think the only way we might get him is if we move down in the 1st (like if we miss out on Brady Quinn somehow)...

Brain Leonard thinks his a RB, reality is going suck for him. Hes too light at 226 to be a good blocker and still not quick enough to be an effective runner.

Bulk up to 245 and hes the second coming of Daryl "Moose" Johnston. I'd draft a Moose in the 3rd.

JMO.

Is he like rob konrad or mike alstott, becuase those two players were nothing alike.

He's a good player, but not a Dolphin player. He isn't a Cameron FB.
