As much as I want guys like Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas to retire Dolphins, people need to realize they won't be here forever. Surtain is gone. Madison is gone. Trace Armstrong left. Brock Marion left. These players have big hearts and were the foundation of this team. But if we want to win, we can't keep them. We are in a rebuilding phase. We aren't going to win the superbowl next year. We will be contenders in a few years. But in a few years Zach and Jason will be too old to contribute. So the logic is to get the most we can for them now, while they are still peaking. I hate to see them go. You hate to see them go. But at least we can get some youth for them. Players who will be dominant in a few years from now, when we have the chance to contend. Don't be so surprised if they are gone in the next few years. Especially JT if he wins DPOTY.

Please stop the insanity!!!!!!!! JT and ZT will be Dolphins for the rest of their lives. We will NEVER trade either of those players.

Stop these BS threads we won't get much for them anyways and they are still playing great football unlike the other guys that you named who weren't doing so great.

It is foolish to think otherwise. If any intelligent coach is coming in here looking to make future improvements, we wants to get as much of his own players for tomorrow as possible. Zach and Jason won't be of much use to us in a couple of years. So why miss out on potential playmakers. Remember the NFL is a business too. The only limitation in unloading these guys is their cap hits.

Miami won't get much for them and they will definitely not get a 1st round pick for either of them anyways and JT has already said that if the next coach doesn't want him he is going to retire.

I disagree. We could definitely get a 1st round pick for JT and why not do it.. Imagine we trade him to a team like the Colts.. We send JT off to a winning team to thank the guy for being such a class act here and in return we get a guy like Gaines Adams (just an example) who is a pass rushing machine and is so young, we'd be recycling great pass rushers and wouldnt miss a beat...Some sports radio host even said we could get a 1st for JT

We'd get enough to make it worth while. And that's what he says. However football is like a heroine addiction to these guys. You think JT could easily walk away from this game. Especially knowing he could win a ring elsewhere?

Zach leads the league in tackles (again) and JT jus wont DPOY. Yep, they're on the decline, let's get rid of em. How about we find some people in our secondary who can play besides Bell. The only problem is our offense.

I also remember when coaches, gurus, media, and countless fans laughed at us,when Jimmy drafted us a LB out of Texas Tech.......#54 ZACH THOMAS BABY!!!

thats what i'm talking about!!!!!!!

Picture This... In 3 years ZT and JT retire... Our 2 best defensive guys are gone and with that goes the strength of our team and the fins identity... OR ... We can trade them (to winning franchises for their sake) and get 2 top picks to equalize their value so that now in 3 years, we wouldnt have two gaping holes on our defensive side, but rather two up and coming great talents that are young and fresh.. Football is a business and theres a strategy and a way to win...We can recycle these guys and let them go out on superior teams so its a win-win system

Guess that gives us 3 years of drafting/FA to find someone. I would never let either of those guys go. We won't get much for them anyway considering they're getting old, not to mention they are the apitomy of team players.

No.

With the parity in this league and with the movement of players associated with free agency, it is NOT unrealistic to us as SB contenders in the next 1-2 years. We had, what, the #4 defense in the league this season? Add a playmaker or two in the secondary and we might have the #1 defense next season. Couple that with a very small improvement on offense and you have a team that is capable of winning a championship.

Getting rid of Zach and JT in the name of "rebuilding" would be foolish, IMO.
