Nobody can stop Roger Federer on grass.

No. 1 got even against No. 2 as Federer ended a five-match losing streak to Rafael Nadal on Sunday, winning 6-0, 7-6 (5), 6-7 (2), 6-3 to earn his fourth straight Wimbledon title and eighth Grand Slam championship.

Nadal had beaten Federer in four finals this year, including at the French Open last month, but couldn't match him on the Swiss star's favorite surface.
Not here, not in my house, not on Centre Court, not on the biggest stage in tennis. That was Federer's response to the 20-year-old Spaniard's challenge.
After dropping the third set, the only set he lost all tournament, Federer lifted his game in the fourth to show who's boss.

The milestones keep piling up for the 24-year-old Federer, who strengthens the case for consideration as being among the greatest players of all-time. In winning his 48th consecutive match on grass, he became the third player in the Open era to capture four successive Wimbledon championships, joining Bjorn Borg (five straight from 1976-80 and Pete Sampras 1997-00).

Congrats Roger....I think he will be the tennis best player ever when his career ends. He can win on any surface. John McEnroe said he will be the best ever (better than Sampras, McEnroe, Connors, and Laver).

it was a pretty good match. it really looked like nadal could do something after the 3rd set.

who was the crackhead who scheduled this for the same day as the world cup final?

About what I expected, after the first set. Strange that Nadal gets so nervous in the opening sets of these finals against Federer. He started 0-5 in Paris and lost that set 6-1.

Federer still doesn't impose himself at net like he should especially against Nadal. McEnroe said at one point it almost looked like Fed was searching for the one strategy that could put the outcome in jeopardy. But Nadal was more error prone than typical and Federer's slice backhand surprisingly effective. Obviously the first serve percentage was vital for Fed.

I still think Nadal has a defensive edge and a bit of a mental edge over Federer. If they meet in New York, my first inclination is to lean toward Nadal. But it's possible Federer will consider this triumph much more significant than one win and really be able to raise his game against Nadal at this point. That's the wild card. Plus you never know what Fed will do in the Open in terms of his backhand. One set he'll slice everything then he starts rolling the topspin game after game. It doesn't matter against the lesser opponents but against Nadal he needs to find the proper strategy.
