Some people here are talking about Jake Delhomme and saying that AJ Feeley might be the next Delhomme. However, not every backup QB that becomes another team's starter is always successful. Just because we got some team's third stringer doesn't mean that we have the next Jake Delhomme. However, I will make some Delhomme to Feeley comparisons.

The Panthers signed Delhomme as an unrestricted free agent. They gave him a 2 year, 4 million dollar contract.

The Dolphins traded a second round pick for Feeley. They gave him a 5 year, 18 million dollar contract.

Feeley's signing bonus is worth more than Delhomme's whole contract. On average, Delhomme makes 2 million a season. Feeley makes 3.6 million a season, which is nearly double what Delhomme makes.

The Panthers didn't give up anything for Delhomme, and didn't give him a ton of money. The Dolphins gave up a first day pick (which means we will have ANOTHER draft without all of our first day picks) and are giving him way too much money.)

The Dolphins simply overpaid for Feeley. There is just no reason to give up a second round pick for an UNPROVEN QB who completed 55% of his passes and had a 75 QB rating when he played. In the few games he started, he wasn't good. He went 4-1, but he isn't the reason why they won 4 games, and in the one game against a team with a winning record, he lost.
