Feeley vs Ferotte...whatever?

Does it even matter? Ferotte is probably going to be the starter...signaling the end of feeleys career.

And if Ferotte is the starter, its pretty much a lock that you'll be drafting a QB early next year. (Probably will be even if Feeley gets the nod)

The point is, neither is going to be the long term solution, and because, according to most of you, that young QB's can set the team back (aka Losman) do you see this rebuilding mode taking more than a few years...

I mean, if Feelrotte is the stop-gap QB, and you bring in a young guy, its going to be 2008 before he's truly comfortable playing NFL football.

thats why we should go with feeley hoping he shows something... kid has potential whether people wanna admit it or not... obviously theres something scouts and NFL personell see in him that he could be good... after he got hurt and lost his starting job in college, he didn't start for 2 years and still got invited at the combine, how many backup QBs who dont start go to the combine? not many but its because he had that potential... and as a backup he ws still drafted in the 5th round... again potential...

hes still played under 1 full seasons worth of games in the NFL... i think most inexperienced guys need about 1.5-2 seasons before they step it up to full potential... i think he needs a chance to start cause really even if frerrotte is slightly better its not by much and its not gonna do anything to play gus over him for our team...

Thanx for bringing this problem to light. I don't think it's ever been mentioned around here that we have a QB problem. Thank god we have you here to tell us these things..

Is there a point to this post? IF, IF, IF, IF........

If Feeley wins the starting job and plays well, we are set for 5 - 6 years. If Frerotte wins the job and plays well, he can play until a young QB is developed. If niether works out, a veteran can be aquired. IF, IF, IF.....

And IF Losman fails, the Bills could be in trouble for 5 - 6 years.....

I know this applies to the Bills as well, ...
But the point is, Ferotte winning the job could set you back.

Why are you so concerned with us and not on one of your own team threads. Many teams have done just fine with worse situations at QB. Us the past few years for example and especially pree Ricky when we also lacked a running game and still were near or at the top of the AFC east. Look at the Ravens of a few years ago and recent.......

Why am i even wasting my time

IF Frerotte wins the job, there are still too many variables to make predictions at this point. It is possible that Frerotte could play well for 2 - 3 years while a new QB develops. It is also possible that the Fins could bring in a starting quality QB next year.

But do you think Ferotte is capable of being "good" at this point in his career.

this isn't a knock on the Fins, but before you signed him, what would you have thought about Gus Ferotte being the QB of the fins?

The only reason I'm optimistic about Losman is because he is an unknown, and he could be good.

Feeley is still unknown. U stick any QB in front of our OL last season and with no running game and lets see how Losman wud do! jeez! If Feeley has some weapons around him this season which is highly likely with Ricky back, Brown coming in, Boston entering the fray, a better coached OL, a couple of new OL and he still dont do the job then i say move on. IMO Feeley will do or die this season but methinks he'll do ok.

I don't agree really. I think Frerotte could run this offense for a year or two, and then we could start a new young QB (prefer McNeal or Jacobs).
The only setback here is desperatly trying to play someone that won't be more than a backup. We tried it with Fiedler, and there is really no reason to keep doing it.

Here are his numbers from his two starts in 2003 (which is the last time he had any starts):

Gus Frerotte 38cmp 65att 58.5% 690yds 10.62 7 TD 2 Int 118.1 rating

Multiply that by 8 and I'll take it:

304 520 58.5% 5520 yds 56 TDs 16 Ints 118.1 rating

Will he reach those numbers? No. But, it shows he can still play.
