because he signed for less money:

• The three-year contract signed by Feely, reportedly worth $6 million, is in fact worth closer to $5 million, according to NFL Players Association records. Along with guaranteed money of close to $2.5 million, Feely's base salaries will be $600,000 in 2007, $850,000 in 2008 and $1.075 million in 2009.

Personally, I will miss Mare to some extent. He was stellar in the first few years of his career, but when he got his pay raise his play has dropped off. I will miss his kickoffs and his high bounces on the recovery attempts; but hopefully we will not have to try to recover the ball back as often late in the games.

Again, the cap hit will be less for Feely, but the overall we are paying out hasn't changed much...what I really want to know is "Is Feely really a better option ?" I don't think so....oh well, it doesn't matter now...

If we can get a pick for Mare, as suggested to the Giants, that makes the whole Kicker switch more acceptable. I would be interested in how Mare fares in New York with the weather and hostile fanbase? I also wonder if they could release Feeley still if Mare restructures his contract?

I think most of us wouldn't mind having Mare here as long as he takes a paycut. Could bringing Feeley into the mix be a challenge to Mare?

Also pretty ironic that we play the G'Men in our so-called "HOME" Europe game............Feely is a solid kicker though.Powerful leg.Glad to have him, although I'll miss Mare.
