Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports one reason the Dolphins must address the defensive tackle position is that free agent Jason Ferguson, who needs until early summer to recover from a quadriceps injury, said it’s no better than a “toss-up” he will play again. “I don’t want to hold them up,” he said. Among draft prospects, Alabama’s Terrence Cody (who weighed 370 pounds Monday) is too big, and Tennessee’s Dan Williams (327) is projected to go after Miami’s 12th pick.

Looks like Wilfork if not franchised will have to get a look by us, as well a Hampton. Then there is Aubrayo Franklin who would come cheaper then those two if not franchised. Real interesting to see how we fill our NT spot.

Dang, I would love for him to stick around another year. Iven if he only gets 15 plays a game. He is much needed for our rushing defense.

I was hoping he could come in for one year and help develope a young gun we would draft, but if Miami can somehow sign either Franklin or Wilfork Im fine with Fergy retiring. Would like to see him back and we cannot get either of those guys.

While this team will get younger I was surprised that this was 1 position BP went out and got an older guy. I know he knew him well but that is pretty old for a position that gets beat up like that.

That means to me he values experience at this position and seeing how it has taken Solai 3 years to become a backup at best I would guess they would look to bring in a vet to start. It's pretty hard to draft and ask a rook to come in and anchor a 3-4 D!

I would look for Nolan to have ALOT of input as to the NT we get.

True 3-4 NT are becoming harder & harder to find. Just look at this years draft. BP likes surrounding himself with people he can trust. We knew every week Fergy played we did not have to worry about him. He was also an excellent Vet for th eyound guys. Like I said if we cannot sign Aubrayo or Wilfork or even Hampton. I really want us to try andd get Fergy here for one more year. His play has not stalled, he has just become injury prone. Soliai played well sharing time with Fergy, so It would not bother me to see those two for one more year. Now like I have said that would change if we can get one of the above names.

Regardless of what he does- he deserves a tip o the ole cap from us Dolfans.

If we could somehow trade down later in the first round (with Berry, McClain, and Bryant off the board presumably) I'd be happy with Dan Williams. He looked real good in the drills they were running yesterday at the Senior Bowl practice. BTW, the coverage for the Senior Bowl on NFLN is starting in about 15 minutes PST, if anyone wants to see it.

We better pray Fergie does not retired. Check some of this news out.

Steelers making retaining DT Casey Hampton and S Ryan Clark an offseason priority. Would be shocked if either hit the open market.

In the end, like many contract negotiations, leverage is a big part of the game.

Wilfork seems to have a bad feeling about how the Patriots used their leverage back in 2004, and probably realizes he has little leverage now given the NFL's uncertain labor situation. He's in a tough spot.

His tone in today’s radio interview with Michael Holley and Lou Merloni on the "Dale and Holley Show" reflected that, and is setting the stage for what could be a contentious situation.

With a possible situation like this I feel a lot more comfortable knowing Nolan is a part of this rather than Spags...

No way will this staff allow for our 3-4 to have a a hole left in the middle.

We need to go after North Carolina Nose Tackle Cam Thomas whose stock is rising. He is 6'4" 331 pounds and has been explosive and physical in the Senior Bowl practices.

Who the hell is spags ?

I think we should sign of these NTs from FA and draft our ILB. NT takes a couple years to figure out. ILB can be an immediate impact position if you get a good player.
