Retired quarterback Jay Fielder says the Dolphins tried to steal signals from the Patriots when he played.

"There were times in games when we knew certain defensive calls from what we were able to gather during the game or our scouts’ eyesight," Fiedler revealed. He called knowing defensive signals "a huge advantage. If the quarterback knows what’s coming, he can dissect it at the line of scrimmage."

What A Scum, why would you say something like this now.

I imagine if I was as unskilled and untalented a QB as Fiedler was almost anything would be an advantage to me.

that shows how bad he really was... had the signals and still sucked

Weren't we accused of it after we beat them 21-0 last year? Shows that it truely is a huge advantage

Is it illegal to "steal" signs by "what they gathered during the game and from their own eyesight?" I don't think so

Beat me to it steveo. Exactly my thought.. It is not illegal to look at the signs or cordinators, only to tape them as I understood the rule. Whats the big deal?

it should be interesting to see what the fans who were asking for all 3 Pats Super Bowl trophy's to be taken away and Belichecks head on a plate will say about this now

He didn't say anything revealing. Every team tries to steal signals to gain an advantage. The difference is that only one of those teams broke the rules by video taping the signals.

Why do you think teams today either have two or more players signaling in plays or playcallers like Jon Gruden keeps his clipboard in front of his face when calling plays.

I have no problem with it. Does it suprise anybody the whole league trys to stretch the rules as far as they can.

Dont read to much into it. He never said that we videotaped anything. Its not against the rules to look across the field and notice that they are using a signal for a spacific play or defensive call.

far cry from actually videotaping the signals....

if your standing there watching, you may catch something.

nobody stands around with their friggin eyes closed.

this guy is an idiot.

Agreed on all counts.

In addition, the difference between Tom Brady with a stolen defensive signal and Jay Fiedler is that Tom Brady would take advantage of that information with a TD for his team while Jay Fiedler would still manage to serve up a pick 6 to the opposing D.

every team looks for an edge. EVEN OUR PRECIOUS PHINS!!! u guys are ridiculous MOST of the time but come on. Jay was better than anything we've had since Dan and I would take a guy like him any day. It isn't against the rules to look at the other sideline and pay attention. With a guy on defense mic'd up, I don't really care anymore. :shakeno:

Jay was a disaster.

He was miscast as a starter by the most incompetent NFL coach/GM that ever came down the pike. If you'd take a guy like Jay any day, I'd say get used to losing.
