We know that in order to become more proficient on offense we need a true #1 at WR and/or a huge target as a red zone threat. While our offense was much better this year (more productive) we still had issues in the red zone and bogged down due to the fact we lacked that big physical guy to go to. Often TD passes were over the middle because we didn't have that guy to go tall with or throw a fade pattern to.

Well, I just came across this tweet:

On PFT Live, @JohnElway said he doesn't know whether both Demaryius Thomas and Julius Thomas will be back next year.

Look no further for a red zone threat then by adding one of these guys. If Denver is going to let them walk then we have to be a player in picking one of them up. I think adding either is a win and not sure which one holds more value over the other.

What are the odds we could make a play here on one of these guys?

You already have one guy making a lot of money . . . you have to trust in Hickey to get a guy in this draft that can fill that void. This draft is absolutely loaded with big WRs and we need to grab one. The Thomas boys are going to be expensive.

If anything, you go 2nd tier with a guy like Hakeem Nicks and you still draft a big guy in the draft. Hickey did well with Landry, I'd give him another shot at getting another guy.

So many people fixated on us needed a big WR. Yet we have so many positions that are in such a worse state than wideout. Our receivers and our passing game performed pretty well this season. I don't think lacking a big receiver is what kept the Dolphins out of the playoffs.

This right here. We need to draft our version of D. Thomas. There are a bunch in the draft.

They performed well in between the 20's. But our Red Zone TD percantage was like bottom 5 in the league. We finished 3rd in the league in Red Zone attempts. Meaning we moved the ball well until we got to the Red Zone. Then we had to settle. We want to talk about winning games, we need to take advantage of those Red Zone opportunities. With what we have spending 1 draft pick on one of these prized WR's coming out will not hurt us. We can spend the next 2 or 3 picks on Defensive guys coming out to help the D along with a couple of FA's.

Nobody is saying it's the only need, but this draft is deep in exactly the kind of WRs we need. Who else do you get if not one of them? No CBs worth the spot that fit here. No LBs outside of maybe Shaq, though he will probably move up the boards following the combine. No Guards. A couple of potential DTs. That's it. WR really makes the most sense and was absolutely a need, particularly in the redzone and with Gibson and hopefully Hartline a goner. Not to mention Wallace potentially gone.

I just remember when Philbin first arrived, a lot of people were running around proclaiming the WR unit didn't need a ballhawk because of "the system".

Brandon Marshall may be available. I think they want two 2nd's :chuckle:

Kidding. A big bodied WR to replace Hartline would be just what the doctor ordered.

I would take Demaryius Thomas over Mike Wallace. I would drive him from Denver to Miami on my dime. I am tired of the Diva.

I see what you did there!!! Kevin White or Funchess of Michigan would be sweet. Tanny to Funchess has nice ring to it.

Wallace was a problem since game number 1 complaining on scoring drives or wins. Not a team player at all. Semi cancer. WR is a problem. We need guys who can go up and make a play on 50 / 50 balls consistently . A safety net where if all else fails in man to man you know you can throw it his way and he'll give 100% effort and fight a corner for a ball. Draft him , get a guy like Fitzgerald or Andre if they're casualties . Do whatever you have to do but if we keep relying on childish Wallace to be our guy...... Were going nowhere.

Wallace was not a problem. Shoot I'd take a half with Wallace off the field to 6-8 games injured for those two combined. Continue to Develop Dion Sims, let Gibson go and draft a taller WR in the 2nd round. Also, the fade route is about the ****ttiest low percentage pass in the red zone. Take that stupid play out of the playbook.

I might be in the minority but I don't think our problems are that bad at WR as much as they are at TE. I don't think Clay is that good, he's more like a pass catching Full back and Sims is merely OK.

For years now I've been trumpeting that we need a really good TE and we have not addressed that yet.

Having that great TE that you can have mismatches against LBers is a hell of a safety blanket for a guy like RT that isn't proficient with the deep ball and would be a great asset in the red zone.

Since the draft is loaded with big wr id like to see us take BPA and take Melvin Gordon who just might be there when we pick
