As much a rivalry as we had with the Bills during the Marino/Kelly, and as much as we Fin Fans despised the Bills, I think it would be a classy move for us Fin fans to pray for JimKelly and his family as he is going through a REAL fight now, a fight for his life. Kelly helped bring a lot of exciting games against Miami over the years, since him and Dan Marino have retired the games just don't seem to have the excitement that they used to. It just came out in the news here that his cancer is in places where it cannot be operated on, all they can do is radiation and chemotherapy. So as a long time Dolphin fan I would ask that we say some prayers that he win this fight.

Maybe Finheaven could take up a collection and get him some sorta gift and make it from the entire Dolphins fanbase.

I 'd like to think that everyone that has any sort of right mind understands that in the end,
no matter who you worked for in terms of sports, you separate the person from the sport and the uniform.

My wife had cancer a couple of years ago. I don't think Jim Kelly ranks any more of an effort than she does.

Kelly and his family have been through the wringer these past couple of years. I certainly will pray for he and his family.

I loved that rivalry with the BILLS in the 90's! Great memories and some great games even though they took most of the games. As much as I hated the BILLS back then, I always liked Jim Kelly because of the mutual respect he and Marino had for each other and Marv Levy was a class act along with their owner Ralph Wilson! Funny how we can't say all these things about that CLASSLESS and ARROGANT organization in Foxboro! Their coach can't even take a group picture with other coaches and handles losing like a 4 year old!!!! Prayers and thoughts go out to a CLASSY quarterback in JIM KELLY!!!

First Ralph Wilson passes and now Kelly takes a turn for the worse, rough week for the bills franchise. Thoughts and prayers to both people.

As a long time Phin fan I rooted hard against Jim 2 Sundays every year but I always respected him for his toughness and the classy, respectful way he treated his opponents. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jim and his family.

Agreed. The battles between Bruce Smith & Richmond Webb were legendary... a real clash of the titans.

Kippy, you neglected to mention the circus of a franchise wearing green in the AFCE... or did you?

Yea I wouldn't say it was much of a "rivalry" they beat us almost every time, especially when it counted. The 1992 AFC championship game hurt the worst, let's flash back: We won the AFC East that year at 11-5. Trounced the Chargers in the divisional playoff game and finally had , wait, what? Home Field for the AFC Championship?! We were riding high and I thought for sure we would finally beat the dreaded Bills. But it wasn't meant to be. Constant mistakes led to a 29-10 disappointment, and our last AFC Championship appearance. You have to respect Jim Kelly though, I never met him but he seemed like a class act. And years later a reporter asked which was the best QB he ever saw, " Dan Marino" was his answer. Props. Get well soon Jim Kelly.

I despised him as the Bills QB but not as a human being. It was just the rivalry thing. Respected his abilities as his Bills got the better of us more often than not. I pray that he makes a full and complete recovery. Jim Kelly is good man and always was a class act.

I shook hands with Jim once at the Hooter's at Bayside . He was sitting with two of the largest individuals i've ever seen probably O line guys.
As a Canes fan I always liked him even when he played for the sucky Bills.
Hope he can fight through this and have a full recovery.

Here's the latest update on Kelly. Wish him the all the best of luck in his battle.

Doctors treating former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly for oral cancer have canceled surgery but will proceed with chemotherapy and radiation treatment, his wife announced Wednesday.

"At this point and time surgery is not the best option for Jim," Jill Kelly wrote on her Facebook page. "The cancer is in areas that surgery cannot successfully eradicate."

"Jim Kelly's condition remains very treatable and potentially curable," said Dr. Peter D. Costantino, who will direct Kelly's treatment at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. "Our immediate focus is on controlling his pain and beginning the process of eradicating the cancer."

Kelly was initially scheduled for five to six weeks of chemotherapy after his surgery, which his wife had said in an Instagram update was "tentatively scheduled for Thursday."

Not looking good. :(

There is at least one benefit of going out in this manner, it allows you to say goodbye to your family in a way you can't with a sudden death. In some ways, though still very difficult, it is easier for the family to cope with the loss afterward when they have this period of saying goodbye.

I just hate how cancer can so quickly decimate a person physically. It is truly a horrible thing to witness and experience. From perfectly healthy and robust one day, to aging 80 years in a matter of weeks. Sad.
