So here's my blueprint for the rest of the offseason. Tell me what you think.

-trade 6th round pick for Trent Green

-sign OLB Donnie Spragan for LB depth

DRAFT:
· 1: OT – Levi Brown – Penn St.
-a four-year starter at LT, the consensus best O-lineman in the draft behind OT Joe Thomas from Wisconsin; would come in and start right away at LT

· 2a: WR – Steve Smith – Southern Cal
-a more productive WR than his teammate Dwayne Jarrett, and I perdict will be a better pro; has started for the past 3 years, very reliable

· 2b: DE – Ray McDonald – Florida
-not a special pass rusher, but very stout against the run; does not get pushed off the line, and often blows runs up towards his way; can also line up at DT if needed; has been making plays at Florida since freshman year

· 3: DT – Marcus Thomas - Florida
-got dismissed from the team Sr. year (for substance abuse) after playing a major role at DT since a freshman; explosive and can provide some pass rush from the DT spot (I read that he compares to Darnell Docket as a player)

· 4: OL – Mansfield Wrotto – Georgia Tech
-physical o-lineman projected to play the interior, although played RT for the Jackets this past year. Was a valuable DT up until Sr. year

· 6a: P – Adam Podlesh – Maryland
-supposedly the most athletic punter in the league in the past 10 years (ran a 4.54 40); career net avg of 38.4 yds

· 6b: TE – Dante Rosario - Oregon
-undersized but athletic pass catcher

· 7: QB – Jeff Rowe - Nevada
-efficient, accurate QB who rarely got to air it out at Nevada; has improved each year with experience

· UDFA: DE – Mel Purcell – Hawaii ; ILB – Troy Collavo – UTEP

A few comments:
  • I think and I'm hoping Joe Toledo will win the starting job at LG; he's gonna have to beat out Chris Liwienski who started only 6 games for the Cardinals last year; But, a former tight end in college, Toledo supposedly has good feet and is a monstrous 6'5, 330
  • Watch out for Frederick Evans this year; he's gonna be the main guy in rotation with Keith Traylor at the nose I believe; Based on his playing time against the Colts in week 17 last year, and reports that he's looked good this offseason, I think he's gonna be pretty valuable; In his very limited playing time, his penetration at the line of scrimmage was very impressive I thought
Here's the projected depth chart:

I agree with the above poster Staley over brown and either Stanton or Edwards in the 2nd.

I agree that I'd rather have Staley! I think Brown will be only marginally better, if that . . . so trade down to the lower third of the first round and pick up extra picks.

I'd like to see the Fins use a 2nd rounder on either Stanton or Edwards. We definitely need a young, QB prospect . . . btw - don't think Quinn will fall to us at #9 and wouldn't want us to trade up for him using day one picks . . . we need as many quality, young players as possible. Let's face it . . . won't win the SB next year anyways! Build, build, build through the draft!

One name to think of with one of our 2nds or 3rd . . . Samson Satele (C/G) from Hawaii! This guy is awesome!!! Watched him for the last 4 years!

Speaking of draft picks, let's get the seven for Jones . . . he's only a PUNTER afterall!!! We can sign a young FA, use a draft pick, or wait for cuts for a veteran . . . heck, I'd take Turk since he'll be cut by the Rams if we don't match!

exactly what i said but short version

Staley is Wade Smith waiting to happen. Staley will not, I repeat, will not start right away. Maybe for some other team, but not this team, and it would be detrimental to Staley's career if he did.

I like the Levi pick, dont like no Qb in early rounds and I do believe its Quinn or one of the second/3rd rounders. I do like Rowe in the later round as a second QB. alot of people wont like it but I say flood a postion that needs and see who sticks and send the worst to Europe or PS.

Everything else could be better IMO cept Podlesh at P. Thats our guy based on what i have heard so far. Steve Smith will not be used with that pick IMO. It will be used more towards OL or QB or DE/DT unless Ted Ginn drops far (which could happen whether people want to believe it or not).

There has to be more emphasis on quarterback than a seventh rounder?
I wouldn't mind a QB selected in the 7th round but we need one on the first day too. I also like Staley.

Also, couldn't we find somebody other than Donnie Spragan? He was the weak link in the front seven and even as a sub he wouldn't offer much?

This mock is terrible. Brown is the only o-lineman that will make a difference. 40 is too high for Smith in my opinion. Also, I don't understand the people that want to draft d-linemen. Give the young DTs a chance to prove themselves. If this was Miami's draft I would be as disappointed as I could possibly be. New regime, start over with a new drafted QB. Not Jeff Rowe. Give me a break.
