Finally, Spoke To A Doer At Directv (do Not Discuss Streams)

He happens to be a Bills fan and we spoke at length about the NFL, The Bills and Dolphins and in particular the AFC East and it led to me getting NFL Sunday Ticket for free for the year!!!! It also helped that he is a NY Knicks fan, as am I (Long suffering, like the Fins) and we spoke about that for awhile. But in all of my 24 years of being a loyal DirecTV subscriber, I can't remember receiving "The Ticket" for free. Maybe I should go play the lottery???? LOL

If you are a long time subscriber and have your contract up in August or September, those retention specialists will do a lot to keep you. Last 2 seasons my brother a subscriber since the early 2000s got it free, and shared his password so I could watch the Phins and my other brother his Skins.

This year I called in and was offered it for 49.99 total, with all 3 pay channels for free x6 months. I said no.

Need to see growth between week 1-4, plus their notorious slow starts...really grate me.

But kudos and enjoy.

I have since connected a cable from computer to my router as I thought it was done by the installer. I tested my wifi as well and it seems to be cruising right along. I jump from site to site with no hesitation at all. I still could not get any picture. Perhaps everything is off right now.

I called and did not get it for free. (have never got it for free) But I did get a break.
The first time I called was about the ST. I pay it all up front so I needed an answer as they had already billed the first installment. After lengthy discussion I was able to get about 1/2 off for the basic ST subscription.
I figured its better than no discount.

Well, when I go back online a few days later they had my bill all screwed up so I call back.
After a lengthy discussion with a retention CSR, she decided to take $60 off a month for 12 months. I have been with Directv for as long as they have offered the Ticket.
So it actually worked out better than had I just got the Ticket for free. Its a $700 savings just on my bill without the ticket.
So, the old saying still applies. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I'm on the phone getting this exact same credit as I type this. I generally get the Ticket for free but this $60/month credit for 12 months is better.

Edit: got an additional $12 off the Ticket because loyalty customers get that $700 credit even if they don't subscribe to the Ticket. I'm like well what're you going to do to sweeten the deal? So, I've lowered my bill $15/month AND I've got Sunday Ticket and the Sports Pack

Call Directv and threaten to cancel your subscription. They will then transfer you to a retention specialist to process your cancellation. These specialists are empowered to negotiate with you if it will prevent you from cancelling. I usually cite lower prices from competitors, and they will start offering discounts. The NFL ticket is usually the first thing they offer.

Yep...I do this every August as well...been doing it for I don't know how long. Since ATT took over it is definitely tougher to get the great deals with Direct TV you used to. Took about a 45 minute call this year but I ended up with $73.50 off Sunday Ticket, some movie package the wife likes for 1/2 off for 3 months ($22.50 in savings), and then $55 off my bill per month for 12 months ($660 in savings). So $756 in savings over the next year, I'll take it. And...no new contract term, which I also like.

I can't say the name of the site, but I got my refund back. Please beware.

feel free to post a warning to beware of the site. But i deleted all the previous posts mentioning the site to avoid members falling for it. I am glad you got your money back from paypal FFIC. I would also consider changing any email passwords you may have linked to that site.

If any site is selling access to a season of games for a cheap price? its always going to be a scam. And nobody should be advertising those sites on fh under any circumstances.

Normal price was $50.00 a year. They were using the NFL's name and logo as well.

yea thats still a red flag price though, the European version of gamepass which does legally have all the games costs around $180

Today was apparently a good day to call the folks at DirecTV. I didn't like what I was hearing from the first attendant and told her I wanted to speak with someone who could take care of a long time customer. Without going into all the details, I got free Sunday Ticket AND my total package price was discounted. So I will pay less than I was paying a month ago and get Sunday Ticket.

Yeah you have to call and try, it's not that much time to save a whole lot of money and be able to watch the fins. Never just cancel to save the money without calling. DTV is not great but they will usually work with you. Other companies like Verizon like to give you could rates at the beginning than rake you over the coals and never bend.

Or Comcast LOL:

Once I called Comcast to discuss the packages they had to offer me, the first question the lady asked me was what's my social security number. Seriously! I said, "you need my social before we can even talk about packages"? I couldn't believe it.
I did it yesterday and also got it free. I made a mistake though, forgot about Sunday Ticket MAX which I called back for and they're getting me 10 a month. Not bad I guess but if I remembered about the MAX I probably could have had it thrown in at the original call. Oh well, still not bad. I need MAX bso I can watch the game on devices in case I'm not home (which I prefer to be but once in a blue moon life wins out).

Dolfan..you don't need MAX to do that this year. I was told that it's part of the basic package this year.

You guys should look into the student only program direct tv offers for the Sunday ticket. It's a 1 time payment of 100$ and you can stream the Sunday ticket online.

Everyone who uses this route, do yourself a favor and google the promo code to save another $20. It may only be for early subscribers, but I've used that route the past 3 years. $80 is not a bad price and I just use a family member's college email. Stream it on my Playstation (the only thing I really use it for haha)

Edit: I believe the code was BACKTOSCHOOL
