"Fingergate" looms over Pats-Fins game

With enough money being placed by bettors on the Miami Dolphins to prompt multiple sports books to take their game against the Patriots off the board and with reports now emerging that New England quarterback Tom Brady injured a finger during practice on Friday, the bigger question is whether there was something going on before Friday.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Friday's injury was actually an aggravation of a prior (undisclosed) condition, which might have accounted for Brady's lack of zip on the ball against the Saints -- and his removal from the contest with 5:22 to play.
Indeed, the scuttlebutt regarding the betting line moving toward Miami began Wednesday, supposedly two days before Brady injured his finger.
So stay tuned on this one. Though the Patriots ultimately disclosed Brady's finger injury on Friday and have listed him as probable (curiously, however, "finger" didn't appear next to Brady's name on the version of the report disseminated by the Dolphins on Friday), it always makes sense to follow the money, and the money is pointing to something that will make it hard for the Pats to pull off a victory.
