Fins don't pick in supplemental

No reason to risk a draft pick from next year on either of those guys. It's called supplemental for a reason.

Uh some studs find out their inelligable or some reason. So no it's not always a risk.

Again, we didn't have 5th rounder. And any oline we pick up would have to eventually bump Toledo, ailibi, or Mormino. Rosenthall and Liwenski are needed for their experience. We also have a bunch of promising FA's on the roster. The fact that we didn't go after anyone says a lot about the level of confidence in the current members potential. Certainly there are question marks and a FA like Kendall would make a difference. But a supplemental draft player isn't going to make a difference now.

That being said, it couldn't hurt to bring OT/OG Patrick in as a Free agent. A Husker paper stated he was shocked he was not drafted. He sounded like he didn't have any free agent offers yet and that he was just going to keep training until something developed.

Gaither was a steal for the Ravens in the 5th. I said all along he'd go to the Ravens. I just had him rated a little higher in the 3rd or 4th.

I'm betting he begins anchoring that line when Ogden retires. That said... a franchise LT with 2 years to learn behind one of the greats in his time.... Gaither's gonna have all the chances to become a great one. Let's just see how well he takes this opportunity by the horns.

Which is more than likely exactly why we didn't take him in the 4th...

Mueller is already behind the 8 ball for the 2008 draft. There just wasn't anyone who was a certainty in this supp. I thought we'd look at Brian Soi before any of the others in this draft...but we'll see, perhaps one of the remainders will be picked up as an UDFA...

The Chargers and Ravens both have excellent personnel staff I bet both Oliver and Gaither turn into good players. The Ravens line is going to be super stacked for a few years now.

My hopes were Gaither might be drafted with the opportunity to push Shelton out of a starting position this year. Then, as Carey did, learn the speed and technique of the game while getting 1 or 2 years under his belt at RT. Of course, if Carey worked out, he could stay there. But, if not, we'd have a helluva insurance policy with Gaither on the other side.

But, ya never know, things might work out just fine for us anyway. Here's to hoping...

The Ravens and Chargers have the luxury of maybe "wasting" a pick on those two players, both teams were ultra succesful last season, and they have no glaring weaknesses to address.

We don't have that luxury, we haven't been drafting well and that has caught up to us, Saban to his credit drafted fairly well, Wanny well....err..

So with our 5th pick gone next year, we couldn't take the chance IMO, it is instructive to note that teams even lower down the totem poll passed on those players as well, and they have more needs then we do.

The last player we got in the suplemental was awesome (Manny Wright) so i cant figure why not use another valuable pick on another equal quality player......the question is why wern't these player in the regular draft

The supplemental draft is a crap shoot. Anyone that has ever played blackjack around 5am in Vegas will understand. Maybe the Ravens FO was sippin red bull and vodka to get them in the mood.:)
