Miami should move Ellerby to the outside and Draft a fast, tough and super smart MLB that plays like the early Zach Thomas did. Reading plays and crushing people behind the line. Fins need a MLB who makes all the right plays and can also intercept the football too. Ellerby is good but seems to never be able to fill that gap and make the play when we really need it ala ZT. He is fast and can play but is not able to read the plays fast enough on a consistent basis. The Dolphins have passed up a lot of great LB's in NFL drafts the past decade! :crazy:Hope we can do something to fix this huge problem quickly. Go Fins forever!

Yes.....We won how many SuperBowls with him?
0.

Yet that alone doesn't exclude the man from being a true difference maker on the field that any organization would be crazy not to want to possess on their team.

Good luck though finding a player with that much heart in such a small stature who played with reckless abandon each and every down.

Those guys simply don't grow on trees.

Also Zach's football IQ made up for his lack of size.

On average guys today don't necessarily have to overcompensate in that way for shortcomings they may have due to performance enhancing drugs and the significant gains made in strength and conditioning regimens.

It's hard to find guys who put the extra work in the film room who are driven beyond the norm. And if you're lucky to find a guy who has the total package, having the physical tools and the smarts to be exceptional it's even more rare.

Another thing is players are much more likely to be assigned proper positions now.

I pretty much guarantee had Zach played in this era he'd probably be a fullback.

Yeah, because having Zach Thomas made us not win super bowls

I would leave Ellerbe and draft an OLB. I think Ellerbe will be much better in year two.

A Zach Thomas type of LB? Sure!

While we're at it, can we get a Marino type of QB as well?

Zach Thomas was a (not officially yet) Hall of Fame middle linebacker - certainly way more efficient, talented, and prolific then Urlacher.

So yeah putting Hall of Fame in the middle is a great idea - but tougher to find that right guy - especially in the 5th round!

Check out videos of Wisconsin's Chris Borland and guess who he reminds us of. Yes, he is short but very feisty and he loves to tackle. I know that it is wrong to compare a draft prospect to one of the greatest Dolphin Defensive players of all time after watching a video, but I was genuinely surprised by the similarity in relentless energy and tackling style. He's expected to go in the 2nd round - not the 5th. But Jimmy Johnson narrowly escaped larceny charges for shamelessly stealing ZT.

Zach is a legend how dare you bring him up as if we can find one on the corner, where I found my wife.

Interesting and somewhat comparable prospect.

Quality post here.
