Knowshon Moreno, who may need surgery on his left knee, revealed the Dolphins were "the only team that reached out to him during free agency."

Moreno's market was awfully quiet for a player who posted stats of his caliber in 2013, which makes us wonder if teams were wary of his health, in addition to the inflation of that production in Peyton Manning's offense. Moreno is seeking a medical opinion this week to determine whether he needs a knee scope. If he does, the Dolphins may have to explore acquiring another running back.

I don't want to say they over paid, but it definitely looks like the Fins could have gotten Moreno for a cheaper contract being they were the only ones who reached out to him.

It definitely gives creedence to the notion that every other team in the NFL thought his "career" year was more because of Manning than anything else.

Moreno has never been special. This type of reality check for fans hoping for a repeat of last year is a good thing.

sure sounds like we signed damaged goods...i wouldn't want to be the guy that green lighted that physical

I am surprised by the amount of people that expect him to be the starter, but he does add value in the passing game. The first article I read that mentioned him as a free agent had our name attached to him as a possible destination and I wanted no part of it. I dont see any room for growth from him and his best chance for success was with Denver. Take away the one game where half of his stats came from and he is an afterthought.

This is why I was surprised they didn't take an RB in the middle rounds. Daniel Thomas should have been GONE YESTERDAY, and all we got is a stiff fast guy who can only do one thing (Miller) and an oft-injured, mostly uninspiring versatile RB (Moreno) on the roster. I doubt Gillislee amounts to much.

As much of a problem the OL was last year, the running game certainly contributed to the pass protection problems as the pass rush could key up since it didn't really have to worry about the running backs. Plus, the RBs sucked at pass pro too.

If Moreno is hobbled by injury this year, it will be a repeat of last year.

If he's cut before week 1 his contract is not guaranteed, right? It comes off the books with a fraction of it being dead money for this season?

Moreno signed a $3 with $1.5 guaranteed.

Was it 1 or 2 years? I think something in the CBA says that if you're cut before week 1 the contract is not guaranteed...so the remaining $1.5 million at least would be gone.

would seem to me we'd be on the hook for $1.5 mil regardless...miami should look at teams final cuts for another rb...should be something out there that can at least provide depth...provided moreno doesnt look fit (lol...fit...must be world cup soccer on my mind)

could always go the short term ir route with moreno also...at just $1.5 mil more that may be the smart route anyways if he's down come final cuts...

just saw the prior post...$1.25 mil 1.75 mil if he makes the roster left come week 1 i'd assume

Call down everyone. We are talking about arthroscopic surgery here. Like yo go into the docs office, and you leave an hour later with a brace. If he gets surgery now he could be back to full speed in a month or so. This really isn't a huge deal imo, and talks about cutting him are extremely premature.

I agree cutting him is premature.

But the guy will be sidelined for a month. Enter camp after sitting a month and hope he gets up to speed.

In addition, Moreno was never known for his blazing speed and this surely doesn't help that part of his game.

I think everyone is just upset that once again we signed a pre-injury player.

i'd be upset if we signed him to a long term deal...then i'd be real upset...one year deal $1.25 mil guaranteed ehhh whatev i've seen this team waste money a whole lot worse than that if it comes to he can't help us

the way this is looking miami will move on after this year anyways...
