Fins sign Jordan Tripp

For some reason, I have this feeling about this kid, there's just something about him that screams a good LB.

Hope you're right, but he wasn't even the best LB on his team here in Montana IMO... But he wowed the scouts at the combine because he does have freaky athletic ability. Let's hope he can pick it up. Definitely rooting for the kid!

Good finally signing our draft choices

From the sound of Armando's blog, looks like this is only the tip of the iceberg in regards to signing rookies this week for Miami.

IMO we have a contributor this year in Tripp. If he has the instinct he could be the starting MLB by the end of the season.

Good. Now get in there and learn the defense kid. Measureables are nice but instincts, preparation and practice is what's needed to play fast at LB.

He has the instincts, but he needs to refine his technique and get a overall better understanding and feel for the game...

I've only seen the highlights. I like the guys who have been coming out of Montana though. I was a bona fide fan of Kroy Bierman and hoping we would grab him in round 6 or 7, but Atlanta wisely snagged him in the 5th. He has been a good addition for them and generally starts.

Here is hoping that Tripp can be as good for us.

He is way better than his draft position indicates (the drafted from Montana effect). He will immediately contribute to special teams and probably force Spitler or Trusnik off the roster (probably Spitler). I read where he was expecting to go in the 3rd round because of his natural talent. He can play any linebacker position but given our weakness in the mike role, it will be interesting if they give him a shot. Joe tends to like to develop rookies slowly, so he will probably not be an exception.
Four other points about Jordie Tripp.
(a) His speciality is forcing fumbles and we need more of them.
(b) His father and grandfather both went to the University of Montana and played football. He was just following a family tradition rather than going to a higher profile college.
(c) He is also trained as a reserve long snapper. Denney probably has many more years left in him, but it's nice to know that we may have a decent backup long snapper on the roster.
(d) He is extremely confident. His interview on Sirius NFL a few weeks before the Draft was so good that it inspired me to look at his plays - I even got on here and encouraged Hayden to check him out as a possible 3rd round pick. I rate it just about the best pre Draft interview that I heard. If his confidence reflects on the field we got a steal.

I am also a big fan of the players coming out of Montana. I think they school their players correctly for the NFL. They may not get the best talent, but they have a few players that have made it to the NFL:

Kroy Biermann
Trumaine Johnson
Marc Mariani
Jimmy Wilson
Dan Carpenter
Colt Anderson

Are you talking about Brock Coyle?
