With Roddy White holding out and one of their other receivers done for the year, does that help our chances in game 1? Another poster opined that we would have a tough time in Atlanta Game 1 based on their home field advantage. I agreed with him. I think we'll be lucky to come out of that game with a win. That's not commentary on how I think our season will go, I think we will be battling it out for division champs especially how our training camp is going. However, the longer R White holds out has to benefit us. Coments...

Well..yeah..any injuries they sustain hurts the team from a physical standpoint.
As for a mental standpoint, it's even better. Last year Atlanta was all about good times and happy fun goodness with cake and icing! Now there are holdouts, injuries plaguing them.

I think we can beat Atlanta, but it'll be hard. Good running game, good passing game. It'll be a good game.

There wont be enough meat on that Bird for a BBQ. When the dolphins walk in Atlanta it will be like taking the leg weights off. Fast-Fast-Fast.... Run Ricky Run / Run Ronnie Run

I have tickets behind the Dolphins bench. I think the key to this game will be stopping Michael Turner. If Atlanta has to rely heavily on the passing game, I think our pass rush will take over as the game goes on.

What I'm hoping is that the 5 guys they lost on D hurts them against us. Since we play them first and those new 5 guys haven't adjusted and gel just yet to game situations and timing, we take advantage of that.. Our O is pretty much the same with the exception that we may have a better center and 2 guards starting the season that wasn't there at the end of last year, so I'm hoping the continuity of that group overwhelmed the 5 new guys on the D side for the Falcons..

It certainly does help our chances in Week 1. The Dolphins would be immediate beneficiaries of any rust that Roddy White has to knock off before he can Matt Ryan get easy and greasy. Meanwhile the loss of Harry Douglas, who I feel was really a promising young receiver, will affect their ability to spread us out and try and victimize any lack of secondary depth that may become evident over the coming weeks.

Also, the loss of DT Ma'ake Kemoeatu really changes some things about the Panthers game.

The Dolphins are going to walk into Atlanta and show them who should have won "Coach of the Year" last season.

End of story.

The Dolphins just caught another break against Atlanta. William Moore just got hurt and will be out between 1 and 4 weeks. If he misses closer to 4 weeks, he won't have had enough training camp to really be a big difference maker right in Week 1. That will indeed give the Falcons a small secondary working against a group of potentially large WRs. Patrick Turner is 6'5". Brandon London is 6'4". Brian Hartline is 6'2".

The Falcons have a huge home field advantage. The Georgia dome gets pretty crunk for the Falcons, and with the really high expectations for the team this year it is going to be worse. A hurt receiver or two isn't going to make enough of a difference. Their team is solid all the way around. I sure do hope we win though, its gonna be my first time at a phins game and its gonna be in hostile territory. All my friends are Falcons fans so its gonna suck to stay with them in Atlanta if we lose. It will be a lot more fun if we win :)

If Tony G. starts...nothing will be easy. IMO, he will have a big week 1. Every game will be a fight this year.

The Falcons have problems of their own. We might be relying on some rookie corners but they're also relying on a rookie DT to replace a stalwart run defender in Grady Jackson. Combine that with a holdout from Roddy White, no Harry Douglas to help spread us out on defense, and a secondary full of shrimps that only gets worse because William Moore will likely not be ready to make a difference in his first game after missing most of camp.

I see more ways for the Dolphins to attack them than I see for them to attack the Dolphins.

Tony Gonzalez is the guy to worry about. Not Roddy White. He's executed the Dolphins many times over his career, and i can't see week 1 being any different now that he has a QB the caliber of Matt Ryan throwing his way. White will be playing week 1 also, don't excpect the Falcons to let him holdout too much longer. We're going to have our hands full right off the bat that game with what should be a very high powered Falcons offense.

Sure it will give us an advantage. In the end though, it will be Atlanta's defense that doesn't get the job done for them.
