• The Dolphins continue to shop John Beck and indicated they would like a fourth-round pick in return but are unlikely to get that, an NFC executive said this week.

''I could see them getting a late-round pick, maybe conditional,'' a second NFC executive said. ''Last year was a disaster and he [turns] 27'' on Thursday. As perspective, one official noted Cleveland received a sixth-rounder last September from Seattle for former starter Charlie Frye, the 67th pick of the 2005 draft. Beck was drafted 40th in 2007.

ESPN's John Clayton said that although Miami has called teams to gauge interest in Beck, they have not done so with Josh McCown, who has no idea if he will be here this season. NFL Network's Adam Schefter has mentioned Dallas has an interest in Beck.

The writing is on the wall. The depth chart heading into the season will be:

1. Pennington
2. Henne
3. McCown

John Beck will likely be traded within the next week or so. Which probably means he WON'T be playing in this weekend's preseason game, so the team doesn't risk an injury with him.

Obviously the Dolphins don't expect to get a 4th round pick for him, but it is a good start on an asking price. Most people here seem to think we can get a 6th round pick in return for him. A conditional pick may be the best way to go. Something like a 6th round pick that could escalate to a 5th or 4th round pick.

Hardly surprising... I think Beck could be had for a conditional 5th.

I'm sure that there will be dozens of people crying about this, but most of us knew it would be happening. A fourth would be freaking outstanding.

God, another wasted pick from the Cameron/Mueller reign of incompetence.
I would say four of the picks turned out to be good choices. Ginn and Satele are starters and are probably headed for a big year this upcoming season. Fields was a pretty good punter last year and has been booming them during TC and preseason. Soliai seems to be getting things together and will likely be Ferguson's primary backup. Obviously they didn't get them all right, all in all though, it wasn't that bad of a draft.

Compared to the one Parcells/Ireland just had though, it doesn't look very good. I think we struck Gold in the 2008 draft.

I don't care at this point because I think we've found better QB's, but I'm gonna be really irritated if John Beck lights us up a year from now when we play whatever team he's on.

In their defense, picking guys in the draft is always a crap-shoot. I'm not by any means saying that I was pleased with their decision making as a whole, but drafting a QB is lot harder than any other position.

That's true. Ginn, Satele, Fields and possibly Solai are keepers. It just wasn't enough to offset the talent that they let walk out the door.

endorphins72 i just saw that comment about your mothers cancer being curable and i think thats great and my prayers are with your mother and famly.i love 2 hear great news like that and good luck with every thing i really hope for the best.now as for us asking for a 4th for beck is far fetched and i hope we get it but at this point ill take a 5th

Yeah, but all we can do is cry about it now. And there's no point in crying over spilled milk. Time to move on.

Sad part is I had high hopes for the kid too. Hope he does well in his future life.

Hey King, thanks so much! She had surgery last night to have the tumor removed. She's home and doing fine. Thanks again!

what is the most amt of picks a team could have because sounds like they are going to trade beck and then brown. i would also trade porter you have so much depth at lb unless we will be eating up alot of his salary. i am pretty sure porter has some trade value, that would suck cuz i have his jersey

i think its just another rumor i think beck will be on the team and mccown will be gone. thats the game parcells and company are playing now with the media since they started one on beck earlier in the week. just what i think. we'll see.

Congrats to your mom man. Nice to hear that her cancer has been cured. God does bless dolphins fans.

As for Beck, a 4 round pick is a little bit to much. But if we can get one, jump on it.
