2007 Draft

Pick
Team
Record
Strength of schedule

1.
Oakland - Calvin Johnson [WR 6-4, 235 Georgia Tech] If the Moss trade rumors are true, Russell is the smokescreen and no one will bite.
2-14
.555

2.
Detroit - Brady Quinn [QB 6-4, 230 Notre Dame] Not even Millen is dumb enough to pass up on the smartest QB in the draft(allegedly) since Peyton Manning for John Kitna.
3-13
.479

3t.
Cleveland (x) - Adrian Peterson [RB 6-2, 220 Oklahoma] Ruben Droughns ran for 748 yards and 4 TDs. Barring catastrophe at the combine or a trade down, this is the safest pick in the draft.
4-12
.535

3t.
Tampa Bay (x) - Alan Branch [DT 6-6, 330 Michigan] Rice & Spires are 32/33 but Branch, as of today, is rated higher than Adams & Anderson. Anyhow, what defense couldn’t use a monster DT with exceptional speed for so much mass? You’d think Tampa’s D wouldn’t need help but they gave up 120 YDS rushing & 22 points a game and are far from invincible.
4-12
.535

5.
Arizona - Joe Thomas [OT 6-8, 305 Wisconsin] Why can’t Miami be lucky enough to have the guy they want & need fall to them? If the Oline can get right & EJ starts pounding it out, look for Arizona to be post-season bound in `09.
5-11
.500

6.
Washington - Gaines Adams [DE 6-4, 265 Clemson] Jason Campbell had a 76.5 rating 1,297 YDS with 10 TDs and 6 INTs in 7 games. Unless Campbell has burned bridges in a way I’m not aware of, Washington is not in the market for a young QB to groom. The Redskin defense amassed a measly 19 sacks in `07 so the best DE in the draft is a solid bet.
5-11
.512

7.
Minnesota - Dwayne Jarrett [WR 6-5, 210 USC] The Tavaris Jackson experiment is just under way so as intriguing as Russell may seem I think the Vikes decide to get their project QB some much needed help. In `05, at this very spot, they reached for a speed demon. This time around they reach for a polished route running possession WR and pray to the pigskin gods he doesn’t take 3 years to pan out.
6-10
.539

8.
Houston - [Jamarcus Russell QB 6-6, 255 LSU] I am of the opinion that Jake Plummer in Houston is as good as done which would drop Russell all the way to Miami. But as the situation currently stands, QB is the number one priority. Russell is a physical monster and may very well make passing on hometown Young a very distant memory.
6-10
.500

9.
Miami – [Ted Ginn JR [WR 6-0, 180 Ohio State] I know, I know. A plethora of you guys don’t like it but I have to go with the evidence at hand; we’ve all seen the interviews at the Senior Bowl (miamidolphins.com) with Mueller where he comments on looking for speed and explosiveness, Cam has expressed that he plays to his players strengths which tells me Chris Chambers goes back to the slot, and as a consequence Wes Welker might be on the way out, as much as I disagree with not resigning the biggest heart on the offense, leaving a speedster WR/return specialist wide open(pun intended). As far as the rankings I trust (scroll down for link), this is as equal a reach as Levi Brown.
PS
Though Ginn would be a pick I love, this mock is not bias. As I said above, the evidence of Mueller confessing that he has an obsession with speed and the ranking of Ginn by scouts ink led to my conclusion.
6-10
.504

10.
Atlanta - LaRon Landry [FS 6-2, 205 LSU] Chris Crocker is nothing special and Lance Schulters is 31, The D gave up 230 YDS passing and 21 points a game.
7-9
.457

11.
San Francisco - Jamaal Anderson [DE 6-5, 280 Arkansas] While the defense registered a solid 34 sacks, Mike Nolan grabs this top 10 talent without a second thought who can play DT in the 4/3 as well.
7-9
.500

12.
Buffalo - [Levi Brown OT 6-5, 325 Penn State] JP Losman was sacked 47 times.
7-9
.574

13.
St. Louis - Amobi Okoye [DT 6-0, 287 Louisville] Glover is 32, Kennedy may be a bust and the Dline got pushed around for 150 YDS rushing a game.
8-8
.465

14.
Carolina - [Lawrence Timmons LB 6-3, 230 Florida State] Diggs is an UFA and Morgan is a serious concern with his multiple concussions.
8-8
.473

15.
Pittsburgh - [Adam Carriker DE 6-5, 290 Nebraska] Tomlin can’t resist taking a DE who can play DT or End in the 4/3 & 3/4.
8-8
.496

16.
Green Bay – [Marshawn Lynch RB 5-10,223 California] Another squad that has the guy they want and need fall to them.
8-8
.500

Although I don't like the Ginn pick, the picks make sense. I see the Panthers need for a LB but I'm not so sure they go that route in the 1st, especially Timmons.

Pretty good, just a few disagreements. Drafting Calvin Johnson is a GREAT pick by any team, however i think even with the Moss rumors, i still think Oakland will draft Russell. Brooks just dont cut it. If Oak does take CJ, then i think Detroit goes with Russell, not Quinn, and Quinn falls to us at #9. The only team ahead of us to be concerned about drafting a QB would be Minnesota. Even though i doubt they will take a QB, you never know. Travaris Jackson played ok for minny, so i dont think minny will be looking at a QB, especially not with the first pick. Houston will probably end up with Plummer so they wont draft a QB. Which means Quinn falls to us at #9. Id rather have Stanton with our 2nd pick, but my big thing with this draft is drafting a QB for the future. I think this is the year we do it.

I hope your right on both accounts.

Nelson could be a possibility for Carolina but a strong suit of that defense has been it's linebacking core for sometime now and with Morgan's recent injuries(could be one big hit away from retiring) and Diggs leaving to FA along with Timmons value/ranking, I don't see a greater need at another position as far as who's available.

please no not ginn..............................................:boohoo:

I would love to see Quinn fall to us... That would be a no brainer to take him and if not, I think Ginn would be the right pick! We NEED playmakers...

Surprised more people are attacking your mock :ninja: considering all the mocks being pretty similar in the top 10 picks and your's being so different. With that said, I'm not going to be one of them because you could be just as right as they are. All your logic is just as sound as theirs, so heh, why not! It's still way too early to know for sure and a lot will happen before draft day to move guys up or down. And hey, if your closer than most on the picks come draft day, by all means come back, re-post this with a big fat
 for everyone that doubted you.

Timmons ranks higher as of today.

According to what? The Panthers NEED a safety. It is easily their greatest need.

And according to most scouts, Nelson is the #1 safety in this draft.. so explain to me again how Timmons ranks higher and on what list..

Most scouts have Timmons listed as a borderline first round pick, while they have Nelson has a top 15 possibility.

Hell, even Kiper has Nelson as #9 on his top 10 players in the draft
