I know you're all probably sick and tired of wacky idea's for this years draft, but I have another one! :rolleyes2 :D

Well....I thought it was crazy when I first thought of it, but the more I think about it, the more I like the idea. Here it is;

We hold the 9th pick in the first round, which on the value chart holds a value of 1,350 points. Our pick in Round 2 (pick 7) has a value of 510 points.

If we were to offer those two selections to, say, Tampa Bay, who also have plenty of needs and who have pick 4 - worth 1,800 points - we could possibly move up to 4th in the 1st Round and get one of the following rookies;

QB Brady Quinn
LT Joe Thomas
WR Calvin Johnson
DT Alan Branch

I know it means we wouldnt pick in the 2nd Round, but how many of you would really consider this scenario if you were in charge?

I would.....Seriously.

Branch is a beast...but i'd be very dissappointed if we traded up to #4 and ended up with just him. and it could easily happen. it wouldn't be worth it in the end.

But uh, it wont happen anyway.

I wouldn't consider it simply because we also have a lot of holes to fill and we're missing the 5th round pick so we're already down a pick. If anything we should trade down and get a few more picks.

I would do it for Joe Thomas as well. Not Quinn though, not 100% sold on him. And not for Branch either.

Personally I think we stay pat and just use the 9, barring a killer trade down offer. We will get a good shot at Brohm/Russel/Smith, a top CB or LB, some OL and DEs. Will be good players, and we dont need to lose the second rounder. We need players, lets get players and not just a player.

This team is not Quinn/Jackson/Branch/Thomas away from a SB.

If CJ were on the board by #4 I'd be all for it. I agree with Ry24, that's the only scenario I'd do it in. Our round 2 pick is too valuable to give up for anything else. Someone like Buster Davis could fall to us with the 7th pick in the second round.

*Johnson.

and your right. having one of the top players in this draft isn't gonna make a difference. I actually think if your getting a top 10 pick, then your getting a player that wilkl come in right away and makje a difference. The only real reason to trade up is if your in the 18-20 range and want to get a top ten pick.

Hey, atleast you and i Agree on Brady Quinn. I think he's just overrated by the media completely

nope if laron landry isnt available ... i would trade down like 8 picks and aquire and extra 3rd or 4th rounder and with the first round pick id select jamarcus russell

yeah cause Spragan was picked at #9 lol. Brian Urlacher was a #9, how about him and, say, a Roth type guy? Seriously, where did you pull that from? For that matter, why not trade our first round for a handful of 7s, because we could just as easily get Ryan Leaf. I hate crappy comparisons.

I could MAYBE see us going up a spot (juming the Texans for instance) if we felt they were going after "our" guy. Like the Browns did for Kellen WInslow. But I dont see us jumping 4-5-6 spots, now would i want to give up what that implies.

yea

I say we trade down not up! only for CJ or Thomas

We need a good Center or LB in the 2nd cant affored to give that up for Quinn aucaly make that a hell no for quinn haha

I bet we could pick up Mozes in the 2nd ! i love the guy !
