I was talking to my son after the game trying to explain this total mess and came to the conclusion that we only have five pieces on offense worth keeping. Some of you might even question five, but I say Pouncey, Tannehill, Clay, Hartline and Wallace are the only players that good teams would even want. The rest is just crap, as we have no seam TE, no one else on the o-line worth keeping, average RB's, plus we have no depth behind those five players except maybe Matt Moore. Ireland has been a total dismal failure in building this offense, and Sherman has been just as miserable in putting what we have on offense in a position to win. Both Ireland and Sherman have to go. Tomorrow isn't soon enough for me!

On D it's not much better. We will most likely lose Soliai, Starks, Clemmons and Grimes. Plus our secondary, especially our corners, including our two high draft picks, are a total mess and add to the mess that our two new LB's have way underperformed. We can try to blame Philbin or even Tannehill for the results on the field, but when you look at what we actually have on the field it's fairly obvious why we cannot score.

Ross has to be giving Philbin a little consideration, if for nothing more than keeping the team focused even with all the distractions and drama the last few weeks, but I feel like he has to finish at least .500 to get another year.

Thoughts...

Until the GM position gets solved, nothing will. We had a chance to draft Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant, instead we chose to overspend for Marshall and Wallace. We don't have good decision makers, and that needs to be fixed as the priority.

Ireland is likely a goner, but Philbin is a lame duck at this point. A lot of the same problems that existed in earlier weeks, as early as week 1 haven't been corrected (i.e. coming out flat time and time again in the 2nd half, making no adjustments or even anticipating the other teams adjustments, etc). Keeping him for another year would be a mistake right now.

I would also keep Sturgis on offense. I don't blame his for his miss in the wind today. He's been pretty consistent, and had a groin pull early on in the season. He booms it on kickoffs. I am not sure I would keep Wallace. What has he done to deserve his pay? He drops passes he should make.

I think Pouncey is debatable. Not from a talent standpoint ... he's very physically gifted. But this line doesn't look much different run blocking with him or without him, and the pass blocking has been better. We don't have other teams being able to read our snap count with Jerry having to look back to tell the center when to snap the ball. Also, I wonder just how positive a locker room presence he in; he might be someone you can trade for value and not lose much in the deal. He might be addition by subtraction, same as Martin and Incognito.

I agree. If forced to make a choice, I would also dump Tannehill and look for a QB who has the ability to hit Wallace in stride.

I think Phillip Wheeler has played well. He was all over the field yesterday.
Why are you assuming we will lose Clemons, Grimes, Soliai and Starks?
We have lots of cap room and a franchise tag, and I don't think Clemons will be expensive. Wouldn't surprise me to see Grimes tagged, Clemons re-signed reasonably, and we lose one of the two DT's but keep the other.
Your assessment of the offense is good, but I also like Brandon Gibson. Don't forget him. That line needs four new starters and they MUST try to get at least one running back. The ones we have are decent #2 guys.

You have to keep Wallace for another year otherwise you'll get hit with a $17,250,000 cap hit

Gibson on offense also. Other players will have to be kept also cant have all that turnover on the roster IMO. It will be interesting to see how many players on defense stay which will dictate what can be done on offense and with the OL etc. A new GM means the younger players play and vets probably leave.

Now go ahead and tell us who that QB would be...:rolleyes2:

I was just saying we cannot afford to keep them all. My overall point is that the talent on offense is very poor compared to the rest of the league. I would try to resign Grimes and Soliai but we need so much, and have no quality depth, its hard to fathom how we could even turn it around next year. I said five and some on this board are saying less than that, so that's all on Ireland Imo.

Oh, definitely not all of them. But I think Soliai or Starks, Clemons re-sign, and franchise Grimes. Then most of the off-season, draft and free agency, will be to bring it o-line help, a TE to compliment Clay, and a RB. See where that gets us.
Besides those four(Starks,Soliai,Grimes, Clemons), do we even have any noteworthy free-agents set to leave? We're not in bad shape at all, cap wise with only a few guys to worry about.

Our entire draft needs to be about improving our offense with o-line, RB, WR and seam TE. WE ALSO NEED A NEW O-COORDINATOR!

I thought Wheeler was horrible tackling yesterday. He constantly takes himself out of plays diving for feet at the worst time. I think the reason for a lot of our run D issues can be put on his back. There were a few plays yesterday where he could have had an impact on the run instead he dove himself right out of plays.
