Fla., Auburn top SEC preseason team

The Florida Gators had 12 players selected to the coaches' preseason All-Southeastern Conference team while Auburn led the way with six first-team picks.

The defending league champion Tigers, who had 11 players make the list, also had the only unanimous choice in offensive tackle Marcus McNeill for the team released Wednesday. Coaches weren't allowed to vote for their own players in choosing the first- second- and third-teamers.

Tennessee had 10 players make one of the teams while Alabama and Georgia each had nine.

Vanderbilt's Jay Cutler was the first-team pick at quarterback, selected over Chris Leak of Florida and Brodie Croyle of Alabama.

Also, surprised to see Andre Caldwell make first team over Chad Jackson.

Demetrice Webb definitely belongs on the first team defense. I'm shocked to see Caldwell make first team and Dallas Baker make second team and no mention of Chad Jackson. He'll be Florida's top WR this season.

not too shocked on cutler making the 1st team over leak. he's got more experience and has shown a good amount of adversity despite being on a losing team. however he is an option QB, and considering all the hype leak has gotten, i guess it's kinda weird

That's cool, but I've read in Athlon Sports that the Vols are supposed to go for the National Championship this year, with Riggs and their offense being amazing. Hope the Gators make a good run of it though. Their qb is amazing.

On the gators wide receiver situation, I believe they gave the spot to Caldwell because he is the most reliable of the corps.... Chad Jackson is an amazing wideout, and he is known for his huge plays, which may make him the best WR on the squad... Thats all you guys will see on Sportcenter this year, some sweet Leak to Jackson hookups.... I can't wait for the season to start... There is nothing like games at the swamp!!!!
