Because there is "No Logic" to think tanking is like flipping a light switch.

If you want to feel good about thinking we're tanking.....go for it.

Ironically they may have done a ton of damage to baseball. Teams that have no intention of bettering themselves can now point to the Astros and say that's what their approach is, when in reality their objective is to keep cost low and collect revenue sharing. That's what the Marlins are doing.

Unfortunately, Stephen Ross just promoted the guy who was part of the group that undervalued Mahomes.

It shouldn't take 4-5 seasons to compete again. If we have the right guys running the show we should have a good idea where we stand by the end of the third, if not second, season.

    Yeah, sure they are same.

That's why you slipped in even if they aren't trying to lose.

Tanking is intentionally losing period. AKA going through the motions.

The other is naturally rebuilding an NFL team due to years and years of using a band aid on a gun shot wound.

Contact Webster is you need them changed in the dictionary for your liking.

It’s all about what the circumstances are and when you do it. There is no QB reasonably available right now that makes this team competitive in the short run or the long run, and there are no other bundle of players at other positions. Next year they say is a bumper crop of QBs in the draft. If you have a bad QB especially with this supporting cast you’re assured to get one of them, and a 50/50 shot of getting the best one, which is very good odds when you think about it.

The worst thing is to be one of those zombie franchises that sputters in mediocrity, which is what the Dolphins have been not for lack of trying not to be.

It’s time to rip off the bandaid.

How are they keeping costs down paying Verlander $28 million a season!!! lol They have the tenth highest payroll in the MLB this year!!! They tanked, so did the Braves. The MLB average payroll is $127 million with 4 teams spending less than half that: Marlins, Orioles Pirates and Rays. They will all be relevant in the future, it's just going to take time. The Braves are a team just coming out of their tank and are now starting to spend again. It's painful and you may lose fans but it works!!

This team havent been a QB away from being good since noodle arm Pennington. The problem with the Dolphins has been they have not been able to build a roster. The Defense has been horrible for years. The offense in general outside of the QB has been horrible for years. The past 8 years of management the phins would of lost the same amount of games with Andrew Luck. This is not the NBA where one player can make that much of a difference.

The only real strategy i think the Phins might be trying to do. Get a qb on a cheap rookie contract and then spend a lot of money in free agency while his deal is low. Like the Browns are trying to do. But that is a real gamble. No one knows how fast a qb will develop.

In the world where your starting QB is Baker Mayfield? Its the ultimate panacea. The Colts may have had the worst front office in the league for years and most Dolphin fans would be thrilled to be in their position simply because of the man behind center. The Browns made all sorts of mistakes as you doled out and yet here they are with a fanbase dreaming of contending for years to come.

In the NFL that is the opportunity having that first overall pick presents you with. The Dolphins have been a horribly run franchise for decades now and yet one season of misery can offer a fanbase a decade of hope. I'll admit that there is no guarantee than any college prospect emerges this year as a cant miss franchise signal caller and it is possible that they still manage to screw it up if given the opportunity. But the odds are in their favor.

Can we open a tanking forum and the mods can move all tanking threads there. I think it will be helpful when the season starts and posters get pissed when we win games.

Ultimate panacea is Baker Mayfield?!? In what world does it matter whether it is Wentz, Mahomes, or Mayfield?
You go get an elite QB and you roll, it does not matter which one!

The Browns luck turned when they hired a GM who gets it and gets sht done! Not with Baker Mayfield!

You can give the number 1 pick to Ireland and he will select a LT! You can give it to Sashi and he will turn down Mahomes for more picks, because he likes to fk around! Just like our idiot GM! If you gave our GM or the Jets the #1 pick, they wouldn't know what to do with it. They'd pick Darnold!

This team needs a GM who get it, and gets things done. Not make believe GM who is only good for answering phones. That's his mental domain.
