One Dolphins player said Patrick Turner has looked good in practice and he cannot understand why Turner isn't playing. . . .

For Dolfans looking ahead, here's how ESPN's collection of former scouts rank the draft's receivers: ineligible Dez Bryant of Oklahoma State (ninth among all prospects), Illinois' Arrelious Benn (22nd), LSU's Brandon LaFell (31st), Minnesota's Eric Decker (39th), Syracuse's Mike Williams (44th), USC's Damian Williams (47th) and Cincinnati's Mardy Gilyard (62nd).

note: I'm obviously on the Benn bandwagon, but this is an indication of why- not only does he fit the size/quicks/strength/speed profile, but he's projected to go right around where I assume we'll pick in the 1st rd. It just all adds up to me barring a major WR acquisition in FA.

For what it's worth GBN has Benn #10 overall, Bryant #12, Lafell #36, Mike Williams #52, Gilyard #56 and Decker #70.

Draf Countdown has senior rankings of Lafell #7, Gilyard #17, and Decker #29.

the reason turner has not been activated is because he sucks on special teams, apparently, and he was a bit shaky with whole knowledge of the offensive plays. frankly, though, we are in such desperate need of a receiver, I'd take my chances on ST and an off chance he misses an assignment. get this kid in there.

special teams is not the reason turner has been inactive. if he was any kind of threat at WR he would be active and in the rotation.

Walterfootball's evaluation of Benn is he has bad hands, any reason of this or is it a poor evaluation?

Arrelious Benn*, Illinois
Height: 6-2. Weight: 214.
Projected 40 Time: 4.46.
Projected Round (2010): 2.
11/7/09: Needs to practice catching toilet paper in the super market; his hands suck.

The last thing I want to do is draft a WR that needs to work on catching the ball!!!

I know that the past 2 seasons Benn was a beast. He was big, fast, physical and had good hands. This year his numbers are way down and I don't know what has happened to him.

I disagree. Is Cameron Wake a pass rushing threat? If you say yes then why does he have splinters in his ***?

Screw getting a WR in the draft. We have enough guys under development. We need to give up a high pick and get a certified, proven stud from a team who needs to rebuild.

Mike Williams is a good player on a bad team...but he literally quit this season becasue Syracuse sucks so bad...not the kind of weak-willed player we need on an NFL roster...he does have great hands though

I'd rather see Miami make a run at Lee Evans, Chris Henry, Brandon Marshall, Vincent Jackson maybe even steve breaston ...all of whom are FA next year and draft that stud TE from Oklahoma Jermain Gresham who is out for the year....he will be an immediate upgrade over Fasano can catch and block and has enormous size like an Antonio Gates

I have seen him drop at least two and he muffed a punt. These are just things I saw. The problem with evaluating Benn is that the morons at Illinois only use him for what seems like 5 plays a game. Most the time those are on end arounds. It is amazing that they have this talent, but refuse to use it. It is like they don't want to use him too much, or the defense will key on him...idiots. They would rather lose games...

I personally would love to see Decker on the team. The guy is one tough SOB who catches everything and will break tackles. Problems: Injury prone (leg issues last year, ankle sprain that has him out the rest of this season) and does not have elite speed. This could be a plus as he could drop to late in the 2nd or possibly even 3rd. So we could go after someone else in the 1st. NT or ILB...

As for LaFell...I don't care for him. He is another beanpole that won't break tackles. He is what we don't need.

Williams didn't quit because Syracuse sucks, he quit because he was about to be suspended by the team for the third time this season. I highly doubt we can expect the dolphins to draft someone with this many character flaws.
