Florio calls BS on Schefter's report

Guys, this isn't that hard. No "offer" has been made yet because neither the Dolphins or the Rams have met Fisher's non-monetary requirements/demands/specifications for the parameters of the job (ie, how much power he'll have).

Until one of the teams meets those demands, talking $$$ is nonsensical.

Imagine you're hiring a contractor to build a cabinet. Let's say you know the exact cabinet you want. The kind of wood. The height, width and depth. The style. So a contractor comes over and he doesn't want to build that cabinet. He doesn't like using that kind of wood. He doesn't think the style is very good. Thinks they're too big or too small.

Are you actually going to get a quote from this guy? No, you're not. You're going to move on down the line until you get a guy who'll build you the cabinets you want. Only then will you discuss money.

That's what's going on here.

I don't know what the big rush is. Ross has most likely interviewed everyone he's going to. Fisher is obviously the main target but they must've seen something they liked in the other guys (preferably Zimmer or Philbin) so they know which direction they'll go if Fisher doesn't work out. The candidates most likely have a good idea who their staff will be so as long as they're mostly in place in time for the senior bowl then I don't see what the problem is other than just wanting to know. There have been plenty of reasons lately that being a Phins fan sucks but this coaching search is the least of them imho.

Regardless of how the sweepstakes falls.. Jeff Fisher sucks!! He will suck for us.. or he will suck for the Rams.. bottom line.. Jeff Fisher Sucks!!!!
 
no, most people know a basic ball park figure. but you dont know your entire benefits package, exact pay dates bonus's, all of the things you get commision on etc. until day 1 at work.

i think they said hey we'll pay you what your worth pretty much, your agent knows the deal already - just let us know if miami is the right situation for you, here is what we expect :

"ok well im gonna check out st louis too and ill get back to you.

st louis - here is what we expect, here is a ballpark money figure.

ok i want to meet bradford though if your sold on him and some other guys -

ok got my info, going to go home and figure out best situation, my agent will contact you to negotiate if i indeed choose you.

i think schefter is very plausible, and the only thing florio is doing is calling out schefter based on an assumption and "what seems to make sense" schefter is a real insider and is adamant about this.
 
I hate Florio, but he's pretty obviously right here. There is no way the Rams and Dolphins haven't made offers to Fisher at this point in the game.
 
most of the comments, seemingly with little axe to grind more or less parallel my own: i.e. why all this fuss over a coach with a mediocre record, no superbowls and less winning seasons than not?. Interesting
