Fnding it hard to be a dolphin fan

I still find it easy to root for the team, but its not so hard to take a loss anymore....kinda numb to it. I find it very very easy to root against our front office/coach/owner for about the last decade. It is so hard to watch the team be run by the keystone kops over and over and over again. The GM and coach have to be mutually responsible, and each new regime should be given three years to build a contender....not a 9 win team, a contender by the end of the 3rd year. Philbin should be tossed with the bathwater Ireland. Nothing personal, start the new regime properly, coach and GM together. Don't go after coaches whose heart really isn't into it(Cameron/Saban/Johnson)....don't bring in a guy who is only riding the coattails of someone else(Wannestedt/Sparano)....and don't bring in someone who hasn't led an NFL or high caliber college roster(Philbin).

Find someone with fire in the belly. Whose only desire is to win. Every week. Someone who takes losing personally, as an afront, not as something to study on film and try a little harder next time. Someone who is so upset when they lose they want to throwup. Someone who understands that coaching isn't about shoelaces and jokes in cafeterias or getting your players to like you. Its about getting everyone on the same road, its about teaching guys where to put there hands, about getting stonehand receivers to stay after practice and catch a hundred from the jugs, its about reminding coordinators that they are getting off page when they go away from things that are working. Its about getting the players who aren't always the best on the field, to play at their best every play.

Get me a GM that seems to have a real plan, and a coach that seems to give a rats ass and this team will have me whole-heartedly all over again. But until then, your just some chick I'm hooking up with once in a while.

I can honestly say it sucks to be a Dolphins fan, this team is in bad shape on all fronts. Were down 2 Olinemen on a line that was crappy to start with. Our prized FA has virtually no impact on games. We let 4th sting RBs run all over us in a game that meant so much. And im starting to have doubts about our young QB. GM sucks, coach doesnt even know about the crap that goes on in his own locker room. This hole franchise is has a dark cloud hanging over it.

Please stop with this "hard to be a fan of the Dolphons". If anything, find it hard to be a fan of the NFL. Find it hard to be a fan of any sports writers, media personnel, or other team personnel in the league. I am BAFFLED and ashamed of the entire league for their handling of the Martin situation. 8-8 last season, on pace to a similar fate this season, MOST SACKS GIVEN UP IN THE LEAGUE this season and the kid quits. That alone should have been enough to garner support from other teams/players/coaches in the league because anyone with a working brain could see that Martin was struggling ON THE FIELD. When big name players like Hartline, Wake, Wallace come out in support of Incognito and against Martin why were they then immediately discredited by their peers/entire media as being in a "prison style locker room" where veterans "had no control". THIS IS WHY WE LOST ON MONDAY NIGHT. The attack on our locker room. The attack on the morals/decency of our veteran core.

WHY IS IT THAT THERE ARE ONLY 2 SCENARIOS IN EVERYONES BIASED UNFOUNDED OPINION OF WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED?
a) Coaches told players to bully martin
b) Coaches were unaware of the travesties against Martin, proving them to be responsible due to lack of leadership.

what about c?
THAT THE KID WAS A BITCH WHO COULDNT HANDLE PROFESSIONAL SPORTS and NO ONE SAW IT COMING ON THE TEAM.

turning on the dolphins right now is the worst thing you could do. When this situation sorts itself out as a convoluted mess, when Martins lawyer stops running the flow of public knowledge and the NFL becomes aware of the full scope of Martin's inability to handle what will likely be deemed a "normal" locker room environment (with exception to some over the top relationships he DIRECTLY contributed to himself), we will see a change in the tone from everyone. Until then, stay positive and remember the vikings sex boat, the patriots murdering, that time the saints planned to physically assault and bully the entire league to injury at the advice of their coaching staff

I know people around here hate Belichick, but if we could get him, we would all love him, cuz he'd bring it, every week. And for all the talk of he's only as good as Brady.....Matt Cassel fellas, Matt f'n Cassel went 11-5. Belichick said this past week that there have been a few rare moments where he didn't like where his.... "HIS".... locker room was going and he had to intervene. You can't let the inmates run the school yard.....and thats what Philbin did. Players not serious enough or focused enough on the task at hand.

And I for one, could care less what kind of player Jonathan Martin ever does become, if anything....but if he goes somewhere else, like so many other Fins, and becomes a solid starter or borderline pro bowler under say Harbaugh....will all you guys come back on a year or two down the road and admit that the locker room was out of control? Is that really what it takes? This locker room was not the "normal"....how many past players and present players have to come out and say it seemed to go over the top....before some people will accept that this was not a typical locker room? It was a locker room with Richie F'n Incognito as your leader!! How many times has this guy been booted, or called dirty or proven himself to be a douche, before you realize that Incognito being your leader is F'd up?

Incognito...Martin....who gives a crap? And the fact that the players in the locker room seem more interested in picking a side than winning against an 0-8 team on monday night, should tell you exactly how far off this locker room is and has been from where it should be. On good teams, whether a guy quits/gets suspended/retires/or goes on IR.....the good teams only care about who steps up next. Not about whose right and whose wrong.

I use to be a fan, now I prefer to say I cheer for them.
To me, a fan likes what they see and what is going on. I don't for the most part.
I look forward to one day stop cheering and hoping and rather be a fan of what is going on, time will tell.
But The Dolphins are my team.
If you are fan of great football, it is hard to say you are a fan of the Dolphins. Depends on your definition.
Most here would say I'm not "a real" fan.

No, It sucks being a Dolphin fan, but I will still get excited each week to watch them play, because I know come January it will be long time before the draft and even longer until the teams report to camp and I'll wish I was watching them again....even if it is a crappy performance. It also helps that FSU is competing for a national championship...

What I have come to realize is... this team.. this franchise.. this organization is nothing at all like what I grew up loving and supporting.. yet I cant seem to stop following them.. even tho I want to..

For me, the older I get the more I have lost interest in sports in general. The Dolphins are really the only game in town for me anymore, but I don't get as upset over losses as I did before. I still consider myself a diehard Fins fan though

Agreed on both counts. Its tricky being a Dolphins and Braves fan. At least, the Braves find new & interesting to perpetually underachieve.

Anyone else have a hard time getting up for the game on Monday night. I found it hard to root for this team for the first time. From the not a nice guy Ireland to the prison like locker room atmosphere it seems like a long way from the dolphins with class and professionalism that I grew up watching. Shula, marino, Jt, Zach Thomas or JJ and Parcelles who ran a tight ship but who had control of this team. Even though I grew up in that type of locker room environment with my family and some of my friends, when I got older I realized that craziness is a turn off. I'm about decency and order. Some might say I'm on a moral high ground and wins and losses as a fan should be your only concern. Well I can't do that. I can't be a fan of foolishness. I'm hoping to see many of these players and anyone who carries these crazy locker room antics too far gone. I like to see good guys win not bad guys. Can't remember the last time my heart wasn't in a Mnf game.

Finding it hard? It's been hard for years.

I feel ya. I'm usually pretty optimistic but these last few weeks have been hard to root for them

I expect them to lose and I am at the point where, if they are going to lose, I hope and pray they get completely blown out and utterly embarrassed. I.E. I wish Tampa beat us by 30, not 3.... If we cant beat a winless team and come out flat, we deserve to be the laughing stock at the water cooler.

Another example, on my way out of the office today I ran into one of my colleagues, a Bears fan. I said, "tough loss", he was upset they played Cutler. I responded laughingly, "try being a Dolphins fan". He said, "yeah, they have some problems. 2 yards rushing". I laughed and said, "just as good as Joey Harrington posting a 0.0 QBR in 2006". Then I told him I wish we got blown out by 40 points.

Also I came into good mezzanine tickets for the Jets game on December 1st. My wife and I discussed it and decided not to accept them. No way we're spending 400 in the freezing cold to watch them sleep. They arent worth that kind of investment.

no. i never have a problem getting psyched for my team to take the field. 16 games (and the rare playoff appearance) per year goes by far too quickly.

Not saying this type of thing doesn't happen in an nfl locker room and this goes back to human values and the culture that we are raised in but this doesn't get out of control in Ne, Pitt or any other well run established team or coach. Tony Dungy or some of the other coaches and front office organizations with high standards will not allow this thing to happen. In no other walk of life do the inmates run the prison but pro sports. And i'll save my Jonanthan Martin comments for another thread the way he is treated is a major problem with men in our society. 15-20 yrs ago I never thought this team would be so bad for so long, In the class of the bucs, lions the perianal doormats that I grew up watching in the 80's and 90's.
