I love that sentence that coaches use to describe missed opportunities. I got to thinking today about realistically what are some of the problems this year and for me it goes back not only to some of our guys underachieving but really if you think about it, how many plays have we really left out on the field.
I can think of a few. The fumble by Brown into the endzone is one. Usually that is a sure TD for us. What about the 2 passes that Ginn didn't "finish" on. Those both would have been two sure td's. What about the overthrows by Pennington and White to Ginn that he had within 2-3 yards and was OPEN. Then the Fasano grab while he was OPEN that he left go through his hands. If Miami makes those plays, the outcomes may be dramatically different and we could be 2-1 at this point.
Shoulda, coulda, woulda; I get that part. However it makes me wonder really how "bad" our team is versus underachieving in the first 3 games. I think that is what separates us from the really bad franchises like the browns, lions, tampa, etc. Those teams don't even set themselves up because of general poor execution.
Maybe if a few go our way things will be different down the road. It isn't like we have been absolutely murdered all 3 games. We actually have put ourselves in good positions in all three of them before we beat ourselves and let the other teams slam the door shut.
