Well, Kevin Coyle wants fewer sub packages and fewer personnel changes in irder to simplify and speed up the defense.
So, if you're a one-dimensional LB, logic says you might drop down the pecking order.
Misi will start at Mike for that reason, imo. He'll be on the field in base and nickel downs.
Guys like Sheppard and Luc are harder to accomodate on third down or facing the no huddle.
McCain, if he bulks up, will get some work at Sam and might go into the DE rotation on nickel downs.
Misi is not crazy instinctual, but he is solid and his coverage has improved from when he was a converted pass rusher out of college. Outside of Sheppard, who is less versatile, nobody is going to threaten Misi at Mike.
Coyle prefers vets to rookies and he loves Misi. We may see Sheppard get some Mike snaps against run-heavy teams, but I cant see beyond Misi.
Im more concerned about Sam. Cam Wake isnt a great edge setter and McCain behind him is light in the pants plus a bit slow on the uptake. Paysinger might get some Sam work.
All in all, it's not an all-Pro room, but theres enough talent there, considering what's in front and behind them.
