We are too quick to blame Culpepper. He did not have a good game, but there are many factors that contributed to that.
1) Bad play calling by Malarkey
2) 7 Sacks and lack of time to go through his progressions
3) He is still coming off of a serious knee injury...and it is expected that he is going to be gun shy especially after all those sacks.
4) He was not put in a position to win, as he had horrible field position for most of the game and even when a drive was going there was either a penalty or a sack to make it 3rd and long.
Culpepper is a good QB, better than Ferrotte. However, I think we expected too much of him, as he is not Payton Manning and is not a "general" on the field who is going to call out audibles for every blitz. Nor can Dante read a defense at that level. That is why it is up to the coaches (especially Marlarkey) to put him in a position to win. Just look at Batch in the Pittsburg game he did not have to do anything spectacular against us, as he was put in a position to win with easy throws.
Marlarkey needs to cut Cpep lose and losen up the play book, while still being dedicated to the run. He made our team one-dimensionaland that will not win games.
It is too early to give up on the Phins. I for one have been a fan all my 24 years and will continue to do so even if we go 0-16 (god forbid). GO PHINS!!
