For all AJ Feeley lovers, SD renegotiates contract.

I guess he knew if he didnt re-structure he would be cut. You kinda have to wonder if their was some understanding in place between him and SD about a restructure when the Chargers traded for him.

There's is absolutely no doubt about that.

It's a good situation for him. The San Diego offense is geared more for his style of play and there's a good chance he'll find himself starting at some point in the season due to an injury. I think this gives AJ Smith the leverage he needs to demand a very good deal for Rivers or Brees if a trade happens for one of them.

Ive always liked the way AJ plays. I personally think that his problem was the lack of time the O-line gave him. The games that I watched him play, he was SOLID when the pocket formed. He also made good decisions as to where the coverage was forming. HOWEVER, when flushed out of the pocket, he was forcing balls where they dont belong....

AJ has THE best job on the planet! 1 mil a year for basically hanging out and watching football games in San Diego?

Im going to train my kid to be a backup QB.

AJ got a raw deal here even if we overpaid for him. I blame that on Wanny , when you trade a oick and redo a contract like that , you come right out and make him the starter. If not why trade the pick and give him all that money.

Feeley's good until he's under pressure.

But for all those people who said he'd be out of football by 2006.....:nana:

LOL. I forgot how many were convinced he would never play again. You're right on the money with that infinsible. The thing that kept him from being good was his periodic crumbling when the pocket collapsed. I still think that given more experience he wouldv'e got more comfortable in that situation and developed into a decent QB. It's all water under the bridge now and some of the possibilities that we have of aquiring either FA qbs or rookie qbs seem to be an upgrade over feeley and frerotte. I'm really excited that we may finally have a real QB on the roster in 2006.

It's just a matter of maturity. I think he'll be one of those late bloomers.

We should probably sign him back as a free agent in a couple of years. :escape:
