In the March 18 incident near Fort Lauderdale, Burress, 31, was speeding south on I-95 in his black 2008 Toyota Sequoia at 10:30 a.m. when he crossed several lanes of traffic, cutting off vehicles to get on I-595's westbound ramp, police said. Harris pulled over the car because Burress was driving like "he was going to kill somebody," according to police. When Officer Harris approached, he couldn't see inside the tinted windows of Burress' SUV, so he opened a door and found the ex-Giant talking on his cellphone. "-- - - you! You can't open my -- - -ing door!"
Talk about a pure lack of respect for your fellow man. No thanks.

I'm surprised his phone wasn't shut of for forgetting to pay the bill.

Dude.....here's the thing. Some people on here don't care about that. Everytime somebody gets released that has had ANY success in the league at all, they start screaming, "Hey, we need to sign him!" It doesn't matter how many lines of coke they have snorted, how many banks they have robbed, or how many little old ladies they have killed. If they had a good year statistically somewhere along the way, then we've just GOT TO HAVE THEM. Frankly, I'm sick of it. Any time I hear on the radio about some bonehead getting released, I wonder how many threads I will see when I get home about wanting to sign him. I truly, truly wish people would stop with that crap. You're right on about Burress. We don't need to employ the talent attached to a low life piece of garbage. Not today, not tomorrow, NEVER!

The thing is he would want to play in Miami and in all honestly he's a great receiver. Tell me after he torched Al Harris in the NFC championship that nobody would have wanted to pick this man up. He made the game winning catch in Super Bowl and tell me the Giants didn't look a whole lot different after he was lost for the season. You guys clammor for a number 1 receiver this guy is good enough.

sorry bud i just disagree. I dont care whether or not we sign him but I dont care if he cursed a cop out. Youre not supposed to just open someones door. Cops very, very often abuse the power they are given. I personally hate most cops and I am in an MP unit in the military. I have good friends that are cops and I have seen and heard them do it as well. Every story has two sides. Grow up.

I got out of an arrest once because of this. The officer can't approach the passenger side of the vehicle first, nor open it by their own will unless forced to do so. In this case, the piggy was wrong.

This definitely makes me question my position about signing him, but I do agree with the earlier poster about the cop overstepping his bounds somewhat. He definitely could have handled that situation better, but the cop was also clearly out of line in that situation.

I couldn't care less about the cop opening the door in regards to Plax coming here. All I see is another example of an immature prima donna who still hasn't quite learned his lesson. The guy was a driving like a jackass and didn't cooperate in the first place by not rolling down his window. Luckily, the talk will only last until he goes to prison.

Oh wait, didn't stop the Vick threads...:hsmash:

Ill be stunned if anyone signs this guy until his legal problems have been dealt with. In other words, nobody is signing him for at least a year, because thats the jail time he is looking at here. Most teams won't even sign him when he gets out. Lets hope we are not the team that is stupid enough to do it.

I hope Plaxico will get at least three years in prison, and not the country club variety......maybe he can be a wide receiver for the prison league team?

just from a football standpoint, i would love to have plax in a dolphin uniform..but he has too much baggage..he has to get thru his legal problems and he's most likely going to be suspended..

I disagree. If I am a cop, and I see someone driving insanely, of course I'm going to pull them over. With that being said, it's common sense to have your window open by the time the cop walks to your car. So to not have your window already open with License, Registration, and Proof of Insurance in hand is extremely stupid all by itself. So if I pull someone over, for not just driving bad, but insanely bad, and I make it to their window to see it so tinted that I can't see what's going on, not only am I opening the door, but I'm pulling out my gun as well... Safety first, especially being a police offer in this crazy world. Just my opinion of course.

It's interesting though, because that didn't stop the Giants from trying to re-sign him. I figure they had good reason to believe he would be able to play, or they had some kind of a clause in the contract protecting themselves if he goes away. Talks fell apart because Drew Rosenhaus reasoned that his client was getting stiffed on the bonus money. Go figure
