"Question Mark Plan For Daunte"

1.-Ask him to take a paycut (he will accept due to his situation), he wont take the risk to be released and if somebody else pick him, offer him to sign a worthless contract, so he will accept paycut. ---> If he doesn't take it, release him, if he does, continue in step 2

FACT - Its imminent that we are going to draft a QB in the first day, lets call him "franchise" for now

2.-Let Daunte this COMPLETE year to rehab (while we use Green and groom "franchise")

3.-If in 08 Daunte can comeback to his pre-injury form, keep him and release Green, ------> If not, keep using Green until "franchise" is ready

I think we can only obtain good things from this...

PS. If the "franchise" isn't Quinn (who I'd love to land, Cam and Mueller will do the possible to get him) it will be Kolb or Edwards or Stanton, who knows?, but drafting a QB is imminent.

Looks like a fair chance to Culpepper, since he hadn't have a real opportunity, playing behind a weak O-Line (at the beginning of the season, then it was much more improved, but back then we lacked...), playing hurted (not 100% because Saban pressured him) and finally just playing 4 games...,

So there are 3 factors: O-Line, Not Fully Rehabed, Just Played A Few Games

I mean, what were you expecting from him in those conditions?

GO PHINS!!! :bighug:

I say restructure his contract (he will accept due to his situation), he wont take the risk to be released and if somebody else pick him, offer him to sign a worthless contract, so he will accept restructure.

Then let him this COMPLETE year to rehab (while we use Green and hopefully land Quinn)

And if in 08 he can comeback to his pre-injury form, keep him and release Green, if not, keep using Green until Quinn is ready

I think we can only obtain good things from this...

C-Pepp would restructure/take a pay cut if they asked him too. He did so when Saban asked him to.

The lunacy in all of this is that Culpepper is 28-43 in his last 71 starts...27-40 with a HEALTHY knee. We don't need a QB that can lead us to losses, but one that can lead us to WINS!!!

:rolleyes2

Where was all this when Joey Harrington started with a record of 18-37.

Nice found stat, but I gotta say that one player can't win a game*, I mean, look at his stats he made his work (36 TD passes in 1 season, adding also his complete PCT, QB rating and many other stats, for me it looks like he did his job), Can he be a leader? I really don't know, but will we give him the opportunity to show that to us?, because the talent has been proved, unfortunately not in this team, but there are 2 factors we might want to consider:

* Can he come back to his pre-injury form?
* Can he be a leader?

* That hurts me in the example of Dan Marino, when people don't consider him one of the top QB's, because he never won a SB, but he certainly was a leader and he certainly had the talent, but one man can't pull the trigger alone...

Good idea but Cpep will never go for it.

One of the primary reasons MINN decided to trade him was he seemed more concerned about getting a raise (new contract) then rehabbing his knee. That attitude offended a lot of people in the front office and yet he didn't seem to care. I don't see him taking a pay cut for any reason. He'll just assume he'll get picked up by another team and receive another nice signing bonus.

I like the idea of bring in Green to solidify the position.

I'm completely against trading for a 37yo QB that wants to be here and will be cut anyway.

If this were any other team, we'd be laughing at this trade. But, just as the Saban believers followed his idiot decisions with praises of glory.... here we go again with people tossing aside common sense in an effort to make sure they are heard first as a proponent of Mueller and Cameron's genius.

As if they are stashing away kudos for a later "I told you so" victory speech.

We do not gain anything by trading for a 1 year solution. He already knows the system and already knows Cam. We have too many needs to be throwing away draft picks on a one year band-aid. It's not like Green is taking us to the Super Bowl people. We need to spend draft picks on long term solutions.

I'll say it again, the idea of trading for Green is idiotic.

Wasn't Culpepper close being an FA before he got here? ANd isn't he his own agent.

Daunte's knee is supposed to be 100% after his last surgery in about 6-7 weeks or so. It's starting to sound like Daunte better be able to backflips and other gymnastics routines on that knee by then or things won't be looking too good for him.

Bad timing with this last knee surgery. I guess he had to have it done no matter what anyway. Sure would be nice if we could get him some sort of super high tech artificial knee or something and get the old 2004 Daunte back. I bet they will have artificial knees like that in 20 years or so ... or maybe genetically engineer his knee back to health. :D

O well, it's still 2007 instead of 2027. Daunte is just one big question mark.

He will absolutely take the paycut, he wont assume anything since his popularity has been downgraded a lot, he knows that no team will give him a millionaire contract while he is still being a question mark (can he come back to his pre-injury form?), he won't risk himself to sign a worthless contract IF picked and most probably as a backup, he has his best scenario right here and he wont let this go (At least thats what I think)..., believe me.

He is gonna take the paycut, if not, release him

To be fair, C-Pepp was rushed back. That would push things back.

Absolutely not idiotic at all, if its a 7th or a 6th, he can be a short term solution, but meanwhile he will tutor the rookie QB that we are going to draft this year in the first day of the draft.

And when Green's over (probably 2 years), step up the "Rookie" QB

and you know this how?? He's never done it before, what makes you think he will now?

Thats why I planted for him a "Question Mark Plan" and not a "Secure Future With The Dolphins Plan", believe me, I know he is a question mark, but we've got to answer the question whether he can come back or not.
