Mueller last season tried valiantly to trade up or down last year but had absolutely no takers..

the Dolphins were stymied in leapfrog attempts to grab Oregon nose tackle Haloti Ngata -- who landed in Baltimore with the No. 12 pick -- or drop down and accumulate extra selections.

"We were trying to do anything," said Mueller, whose franchise eventually selected Tennessee defensive back Jason Allen at No. 16. "We grinded for two long days and it was maybe the most frustrating two days I could remember. We couldn't get a break. We couldn't make a deal" -- Randy Mueller

Good read, but it's important to consider how few picks we had last year as opposed to this year for ammunition. I agree with the overall concept though, that making any trade on draft day is difficult and increasingly rare.

Man, I would have loved to have had Ngata at NT though...

yea cause we had like no picks. One 1st rounder, NO SECOUND ROUNDERS, one third rounder, you cant trade with that, and as for trading down, yea it's usually pretty hard, but it shouldn't be if Adrian Peterson falls to us *which could be a possibility.* We have ten picks in this draft, the possibility of us trading up is a lot better, and if we get lucky, we might be able to trade down to get more picks :).

WHOA

You mean your telling me that trading up and trading down isn't as easy as everyones mock drafts make it seem!?

FOR SHAME!

What do you mean you can't trade with that ? Miami was also trying trading down, that would have no consequence with how many picks we had , or didn't have..

Secondly, we see people left and right on this board say that Miami can easily trade our 1st and 3rd to Washington for the 6th pick.. Well, Miami did have a 1st and 3rd last season to trade in the exact same type of scenario..

So, yes, it is not nearly as easy as people think it is to move around in the draft .

Picking at 9 could generate a lot more interest than picking @ 16.

Or it might not.

Where we pick, should none of the super blue chippers fall, represents about the area that the next level of player begins. Teams may be able to get the basic same ability for a player at #16 as they do at #9, and for a good deal less money.

well shazam ! i wonder guys what is it worth to trade down , i mean what can we get for a trade down to like #13 ? is it worth a 2 nd and 4th round pick ?

We couldn't trade up because we didn't have any picks and we couldn't trade down because there wasn't any player available at 16 that other teams wanted.
